move the main airport to miramar suburban wasteland where main airports belong, and demolish Lindbergh/SAN for urban renewal!

The north county real state prices would plummet due to surplus housing near to beaches, employment and downtown. Not to mention easy access to public transportation. Schools ratings will be good since new construction mostly bought by buyers with higher education degrees and incomes.

Massive class actions from future homeowners when they discover unexploded ordinance--the unpleasant way, or learn that most military bases are the equivalent of EPA superfund sites.

Anonymous180243 - I was actually being sarcastic about where is the water going to come from. If we WERE actually in a severe drought, you would think that there would be a moratorium on the building of any new homes, or that the cities would not be granting permits for the installation of home pools. And yes, I did read the article about the water and sewer rates going up. I live in Poway and the neighborhoods have done a great job in reducing their water consumption - far more than was expected. Yet, we are going to be hit with rate hikes. Makes no sense to me at all.

I will be sad when I can't run my car at PCCA autocrosses at the Q moving forward. Then again, I wouldn't mind buying another house down there too. So the net effect for me is Nada.

@Anonymous180270 we need another Target, Costco and Walmart in MV. And more Olive Gardens. @Anonymous180268, why are we bombarded with water saving propaganda at the office? is the company on the side of raising water rates and promoting the CNN narrative? Surely the desalination plant will save us all. But then again, what's the point of building that with such a surplus of water?

The bigger question you should be asking OP is what is going to happen to that big prime land in mission valley once the chargers leave San Diego. The immediate impact will be that it will suck for Porsche car club or America, bmw car club or America, and scca/nasa. I cause most likely that land will be sold to a developer and there will no longer be autocross events there. Bummer

Anonymous180243. There is no water shortage in San Diego. The water reserves are at 92% capacity. There was a news article about it on the union tribine. Its just an excuse to get people conserve in the short term so that they can raise rates for the long term when water consumption resumes normal usage

Just look at what they are doing to the north and south sides of Highway 56...."if there is empty land, they will build on it"....I wonder where the water is coming from to support all those new homes and townhouses?
