Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Two month on payroll

I was a casualty of ROM 2. The company pays for two more months. Can anyone please tell me if we continue to get laid those tow months if we were to find and start another job elsewhere?

Most of us that were cut in ROM2 had two dates provided. The final in-office date, and the final date of employment. My final date of employment is Dec 8th. After that, I would receive the severance package. If I start at another company prior to Dec 8th, I could forfeit that severance package. So, I will spend the next month applying and interviewing, and enjoying my paid time off. Dec 9th seems like a good start date for the next job. Just be up front with your new job applications, if asked when your earliest start date could be. If they need you earlier, some might be willing to match that severance package as a signing bonus.

Keep you mouth shut and take the job..... They needed to file the paper work for the government.

Technically if you take another job in your two months you may be seen as abandoning your job and lose your severance (the package after the two months).

I would either not say anything to chevron or just ask the new company to have your start date after the 60 days.

Chevron could not lay off en mass immediately so they used the 60 days WARN notification, they just don't want you to show up but technically you're still employed. Use this as a vacation! (And look for a new job haha)

If I obtain a job while lay-off during my two months I will not say anything to Chev. That way, I can still contiune to recieve my well derserve paychecks.
