All of you need to understand slb does not exist to buy you a car or a house, it exists to make profit for the shareholders. Which it is doing better than any other service company this quarter, again.You getting laid off is not some devastating blow that is evidence of slb's downfall. Slb is outperforming everyone, and cutting you from the operation is helping, not hurting.

They need to get rid of the foreigns. Send them back to their original bases. Instead of laying off a US citizen that cost slb $50K to $80K a year including benefits. Send home that mng manager that has housing allowance + family plan tickets round trip+ Quarterly and yearly bonus + slb pays his kids to go to private school...etc to name a few.

I am a tech from NGC and I can't wait to put my two weeks notice. Many techs waiting to leave also. Only a matter of time. Alaska and Colorado are both with us.

Obviously he's still employed or he would certainly be singing a different tune...or he's 26 and been with the company for a year or two. It's no so much the layoff, it's the MANOR that they do it. Pack your desk, escorted out, not allowed to say good-bye. After more than 20 years if I had wanted to screw them I would have before I got laid off. And then to get screwed by them on years in the severance package just added insult to injury. They do what they want to do with who they want to do it with.
If I didn't see dishonest and incompetent people being retained, then I might agree with initial post. Unfortunately, retention of best and brightest is NOT what is going on. In addition, there is no consideration of site capabilities as part of the consolidation. Some services are being cut off because the service groups are being transferred to places with no facilities for the service.

I'll tell you a funny story.
Once upon a time the human body got into an argument over who was most important part.
The heart thought it was the most important organ. But the brain thought it was the most important organ.
Then low and behold, the lowly pooh hole decided to shut down and not work anymore.
About 5 days later when they brain and heart were all fogged up, they realized that the pooh hole was the one who had the real power.
It just shows you what an asshole can do.
