183759 - very true. Not going to say people aren't any good at what they do, but DAM, was I ever bored when under COPs employ. spent 12+ yrs at Independants before moving to COP (for a promotion - seemed like a good idea at the time) and can safely say that 90% of the people I wokred with could not hack it at ANY other independant company 9Apache, Anadarko, EOG etc)

The rotations are considered extended internships in the industry; internships to prepare the staff for a career at one of the many peer companies.

I really think it depends on what department and how you are personally. Some groups work there asses off were other groups surf the Internet to stay busy. I do know some unethical employees will save up the work to look like busy. But when I use to work there I was non stop busy

When you only work at a job for 1 year then rotate it is hard to get a lot of proficiency.

Haha when I started with the company several years ago the thing that shocked me was how little work people did at COP...at my previous company my job assignments were 3x as much and I got it all done. Then I realized that people at COP don't have a lot of technical knowledge which then made sense because people did so little work they never really learned to be proficient at any one task. Sad sad sad...
