Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

I want to give a shout out to all my fellow team members.

Thanks for getting the truth out there. This site has been cathartic for me. It feels good to know that I'm not alone in my horrible experience with this corporation. Sadly, it seems to be the norm.

Applause -Calm down - I appreciated your post. I too am an elder with a college degree and was let go. I had zero time and attendance issues, had stellar reviews and even received over the 5% limit max ( as mandated) in yearly raises because I was just that good at my job. Too bad it was eliminated.

I don't believe in trashing anyone in this forum who's VENTING. So yes, Calm Down, you seem like a college graduate in your positive and measured response.

To those that feel the need to name call, or assume, you do not know everyone's experiences. You have to have enough brains to even apply online to Whole Foods, so don't assume or insult everyone's intelligence.

With that, let me just relate this experience: one ASTL. In our region forgot how to use his laptop EVERY DAY. Every day he'd come in, asking the DTS how to access the sharepoint, how to get to the WEB, or he forgot his PASSWORD, ( overnight). Have to love Leadership.

Ok EApa6EJ-2uig we are probably the same age so respect another elder! My job was eliminated although my store was a super star store making a ton of money.Great for you that you enjoy your job and are making a grand a week. Honestly, from my experience you are in the minority. I worked in a few "top" stores and liked my STL. What I didn't like were the Regional Rats that have ruined this company. I am also a college graduate like you. So you see we are alike is a lot of ways. Now, sometimes the grass is greener but I understand at your age you want to play it safe and wait it out. I respect your decision but please don't call people schmuck, whiner, moron, etc....everyone has different experiences and that is why people are posting here. Last time I checked we still have freedom of speech. My advice to the young ins, YOU CAN DO IT! Like NIKE says JUST DO IT! Use your talents and experiences and do find a wonderful new job where people don't put a gag order on you. Yes, corporations are like this but we all thought WFM was a different kind of animal. So my elder friend, we are disappointed...it's like a bad marriage....sometimes people stay....OK, a little light hearted humor for the evening.

@EHpa6EJ-2uig Sounds like you are one of the "rock stars". Good luck with all that. Keep pushing for that all star award, maybe they'll give you a special t shirt for all of your amazing efforts. You are a corporate scumbag.

I am old enough to be the father of half of the TMs I work with, have worked for companies large and small retail and not, have owned more than one retail of my own, have had jobs from 'suit' to manual labor, have a college degree, have been a TL for a long time and really like my job, am on a team that is in the upper third in the company in performance in a store that is upper third, am in a well run and clean store that just plain kills it, and there is absolutely nowhere else I can make over a grand a week in my local labor market working just 40 hours a week inside in the AC even with half-ass benefits. Sure there is plenty of BS just like any big company but I would not take a job if offered to me as I am not going down that 'grass is greener' path of mistakes. If you schmucks think things are so bad here at WFM I encourage you to hit the friggin' road. We'll hire somebody that is not such a narcissistic whiner...or such a moron (depends on which post I am referring to.) Or you can start out entry level and work your way up like I did and have a pretty good life. Look around at what is out there.

I appreciate all of the team members that refused to drink the Kool Aid, and questioned the unethical practices that they saw going on. Unfortunately, they were the ones that were always attacked. #WFMisacult

All successful companies are cults. Their cultish behavior reaches the apex at the point where they kick butt the most. Yet, at some points, all companies fail. It's happening to us right now.

If they had actually spent their money wisely instead of on worthless propaganda, they might be in a better spot right now. But then again, the management style of fear and intimidation is probably a huge nail in their coffin.

When I first came on board I drank the Kool Aid but I had an older uncle who said right off the bat that it was all just corporate BS piled on higher and deeper. He said he'd seen it all before in various forms although not to THIS level. He turned out to be right. Whenever a large corporation trumpets its religion, morals or their values, look out. The time and money spent on such propaganda is inversely proportional to any actual ethics. The same goes for opportunity and training. When there's lots of opportunity and training (and involvement), you don't have to talk about it. Just freakin' do it.

It's just a job man, they want you to think it's more than that, but when you sum it all up, it's just a job.

Yes so right! I always felt there was something wrong with me because I never felt this company really gave a crap about us. Ok ,so it's typical corporation which they kept denying they were! LOL They are not TOO BIG TO FAIL and they are just like everyone else. Nothing special about WFM. Now that I am out my stress is gone, I have a new outlook, new job and know it was not me. Regional and Leadership must have to take classes on how to not be human and be expressionless when talking to us! LOL they don't need Botox cause there faces don't move anyway! Let the truth continue!
