Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

MEA also being hit hard with the latest round of layoffs

MEA is the last Geo market to really take a hit in the SLB layoffs, November has seen as many as 40 employees from 1 segment be shown the door with other segments reporting number into the tens to teens, and this wasn't restricted to the low end employees some of the hardest hit was the IM's expat International Employees, being one of them i know only to well how it feels going into Christmas with out a job.

So to all my brothers in the industry that has been affected or is currently being affected remember as one door closes another will open and there is life after SLB and the oil field hang in there and keep it real.

There is actually a great life after SLB, a shame they managed to ruin MI in the short time frame. Politics, mismanagement and cover-up's have been the MO since SLB took over and handed the management to spineless rats. All that is left by now are unexperienced idiots. Bro there is a lot of work for people who have a real work ethic (not the Blue Print carp) and know what they are doing, it is hard to find but you will come out on top and not have to bother about being stabbed in the back or complete 20 online's a month

Good advice @EK2DFbL-1hnr. This is an industry where you need some money as backup .I've seen to many people spend all thier money, take our huge loans, and then move away from family. Don't do this unless you have savings. Don't over extend yourself by going IM and getting a big mortgage.

You will just be putting yourself in situation where you have no choice but to stay and work long hours and suck up until you are fired and doubly screwed. Damned if you stay and damned if you don't. Instead keep a financial buffer so you can say screw it and walk to holiday if you need to.

Truly, I am working in Middle East and first time I have seen this much of people are fired around me. High cost employees, IM s are the main target. They are as well easy to fire as most Middle East, government protects the locals f.e, Kuwaitis are almost impossible to fire. It is sad to see my colleagues and friends are leaving. There is not much to do, except walking with them to the door and try to cover your real feeling just to make them positive. Schlumberger continues its work with you or without you, it is just business for them. This reminds me the movie " There will be blood"
