I am so disappointed with how baker hughes is functioning. I have given this company a lot and I was satisfied with the reward that I got. However things have chnaged now. Managers do not care about the work, coworkers becoming competitive, no bonuses or salaries worth the extra effort... it is just not the place I want to be in. I talked to my manager ahout my intent to leave this place but they guaranteed me that my job is secure and I will be safe through the merger... not sure what to do?

atleast the sex with HR is good!!
I'm always curious when I hear people say that they gave a lot to their company because when I hear it from my co-workers, it is normally the ones who are giving exactly what they are expected to give, i.e., their job. The ones who give over and above are usually the ones who don't tell everyone how much they give. If you are expecting that-a-boys, get over it! If you are performing your duties with excellent results, well then you are doing exactly what the Company expects you to do.
No seatbelt. No helmet. No stinking FRCs. No rules. No limits. Yeah! I LIKE it!
I like the uncertainty and unpredictability. It's exciting....keeps me on my toes...
Keep your eyes open, your head down and continue to ride this garbage truck all the way to the dump!
Sorry my blue brothers and sisters.
But Halliburton intentions where never to by Baker. Just break Baker.
Halliburton will pay the 3 billion. Baker will be hurting.
So for 3 billion dollars. You now have Schl.and Halliburton.

Agree Soup Nazi! If Anonymous | Post ID: @EKMtruO is that unhappy, he/she needs to leave. Even if he/she makes it past the merger, there are no guarantees that his/her job is secure. The only really secure ones are those with Golden Parachutes. Job security went the out the door a long time ago! Do they even give out watches anymore?
OP is an idiot and it's a stupid post. Who asks this kind of shit? OP has seen what's been going on. He's obviously not all that happy with Baker, at this time. Yet, he feels the need to ask OTHERS "what he should do". I say, for the good of the company, leave. It's "not a place you want to be in", anyway. Adios, MUCHACHO!
Ask your manager to give that guarantee to you in writing in the form of a contract. I bet he changes his tune. I agree with the other post here, he is just using you to establish his goals. Just remember no one is safe through the merger. No guarantees.
Keep grinding until you become financial independence.
Your manager can't guarantee his job after merger. No body knows what HAL intent to do. He lying to keep using you & others in his dept. to establish his goals and you are his tool to do so. Nothing more, whenever management asks him to participate in cost reduction he will not hesitate to cut your job to save his asss. Think again of how to secure yourself out of baker & don't believe him.
Keep it sucking!
