Employed via acquisition, certainly not by choice. Such a culture change. Instead of working for the good of the Company, everything revolved around serving your N+1. A weird and new nomenclature. Every person became a number. As a manager you could no longer make a decision as that was relegated to your N+1 ( code for the numnut that was one step above you in the French hierarchy ). Your survival was based on a "A" rating on the juvenile quarterly performance review. And, "A's" were given to those who supported their N+1's personal agenda ( which did not necessarily bear any resemblance to Corporate wellbeing ). But don't blame N+1, he/she is only serving N+2, who serves N+3 and so on. SLB is all about the promotion of one's self. Blessed to leave on my terms.

Horribly managed company. SLB is getting destroyed by the competition and the route won't end soon. Almost every business they enter into they degrade or destroy all together. SLB is the high cost lowest quality provider in most product lines. The root of the problem is a management structure that more closely resembles a high school popularity contest than a business.
If you really need a job, join. SLB is not a place to go for a rewarding career.
my advice to anyone would be to stay out of this industry all together, hell you will get more satisfaction out of being an electrician, plumber or construction worker and there aren't a lot india or chinese people plowing in for those jobs,
Worst company ever!!! It is all about tick boxes, worst company and culture I've ever experience hands down!!! Those who claim it is a good company are mostly lazy asses getting away with zero accountability.
Totally agree with you, This company start lossing it core value and all the Talented workers start to move out.
all fools and less experienced are managers... who considers themselves bigger than god.. cant wait to leave this company...
I completely agree with Colorado Manager. My advise to "fresh outs" is to stay as far away from SLB as possible. Your work and dedication to the company will never be appreciated nor will you.
I worked for SLB for almost 19 years when I got laid off. I didn't as much get a "thank-you", "sorry this happened", or a handshake for my service. My "supposed manager" didn't even have the courtesy to tell me himself. And they call these guys managers? I was one year from retirement age when it happened, so it really smacks of age discrimination but no way to prove it. I'm really ashamed to have dedicated so many years to a totally mismanaged company. I should have cut ties many years ago. It's no wonder SLB is going through what it is when they are loaded with "managers" that have no idea how to manage. They're letting go too many talented employees and keeping completely inept people.
U R an N because U R a NUMBER, just a number and not even N+!. This is the price to pay for a big name.
When you work for others, you are their slave. Work for yourself.
I left a couple of years ago, as well an acquisition but didn't hang around too long to become an "adviser". Got in touch with one of my old colleagues and his response was "you left just in time!".
Using the N word to talk about me is racist.
You are "N". So, N+1 is your immediate manager. N+2 is your manager's manager and N+3 is your manager's manager's manager. Whew....
N+1 reports to president - N+2 reports to VP's - N+3 could be op's manager or FSM
Take care of your boss and you'll be fine
N1+N2+N3=N6
what is N+1? N+2 and N+3?
Accurate, tried and proven as a winning formula. I've been out of that system for awhile now, it is better than most alternatives.. The reason why your previous employer was acquired..... SLB offered the majority shareholders a better return. So they also felt it was a better system.
Robots managed by dummies
this company is for robots, not people
The op is actually pretty accurate. Follow instructions from n+1. Don't think, but don't hurt anyone. Forget the business needs, meet your objectives at any cost.
asskissing is the number one responsibility here and the rest is up God.
You either serve and become Borg or leave the Borg with some sense of your soul and morality intact. Best of luck to you, Brother.
With your attitude......good riddance.
