Town Hall Meeting on Nov 2 (Monday)

There is suppose to be a meeting for (I think) MCBU at downtown Houston Doubletree Hotel. I will be watching for the cars parked outside 1400 Smith this week.

Town Hall???? They are still trying to work up the nerve or grow the balls to tell their people they signed and sold to COX Energy and are "selling" their employees too, with the exception of a few hand picked to keep. Add that number to the 7000 they just announced with the 1200-1500 that just got cut are in the process of being cut. They are disassembling this company for the almighty $$$$$$$ and their pockets....bet their bonus' are even bigger in 2016 than they were in 2015! "They Chevron Way"!!!

Of course the town hall scheduled for Nov 2 has everything to do with the next round of "Bend Over Again" folks. Anything else said will be just fluff to fill the time, but the main message will be "get ready for more... you know what"!

Maybe it has something to do with the announcement made this morning, 6-7k to be laid off.

Yes, the townhall. That is when the new hip hop video will debut. The focus of this one will focus on cost cutting. This one will have a syzurp beat to it, slow and low.

326 nailed it. I thought I was reading a recap of the last four quarterly meetings. Couple those statements with the lack of executing good ideas that have been submitted, and you really see that CVX is all talk and very little action.

Thanks 668, I can write stuff like that all day...and at much less pay than a GM/VP/CEO whilst working about the same number of hours. What's sad is it really is too predictable and we all know that another ROM will likely come again, once we do a look-back and realize the recently enacted changes aren't delivering the results as expected. Everyone will do rationalizing and finger pointing. Reality is one cannot replace experience with a thoughtless process.

326 That was very well written! They all sound like that and yes, they will probably hire more OE folks to put all the new processes in place. We can never have enough OEs.

Eat before you go, no cookies at the town hall until oil gets back to $100/bbl.

Let's guess here about the messaging: As a company, we are making good progress to becoming more competitive (reducing expenses, capital spending and layoffs), ...but more work needs to be done. Growth outlook looks challenging and will continue to be that way as commodity prices remain low. Everyone needs to continue doing their part in reducing costs and adding value to the company. We will be looking for more opportunities to maintain stockholder value and await the large projects to come online. In the interim, we need to refocus efforts in our MCP's. and execution of them in these challenging times. And all of this has to be done safely to not compromise our values. A recent contractor fatality in the GOM is troubling. As a result we will be unleashing a series of new processes and catchy word phrases onto our organization. This will make us a better company....and in parting don't expect much in terms of raises or bonuses, however, do keep on working 24/7 since your continued employment is in jeopardy.
