Looking to buy a home in San Ramon area, do you think it is better to wait?

I doubt Chevron's layoffs will have much effect on the prices in the area, especially with the plans to move people from Concord to San Ramon. There are a lot of other big employers in the area and with Silicon Valley prices going crazy, people are willing to drive or take a bus from the San Ramon area to the South Bay for the (relatively) cheaper prices and good schools. Right now it's a seller's market in the East Bay, and I suspect that it will continue that way for a while, but who knows. Interest rates and the economy (especially tech) will have a bigger impact than Chevron's plans, unless management does something drastic like close San Ramon and move everyone to Houston.
Buy in California...no way. Huge taxes, a sea of liberals and over population of illegals and people.
Don't buy anything right now in San Ramon. Prices are still too high. I own 8 duplex apartments about 1 mile from the Chevron Park complex in a nice neighborhood with bicycle trails. I bought them 5 years ago as investment property when I retired from Chevron after 38 years of service. Most of my tenants are Chevron employees. Currently I have 2 vacant duplexes (4 apartment units) recently renovated. Two are 2-bedrooms and two are 3-bedrooms. Each have 2 full bathrooms. If you are interested in renting an apartment unit, please let me know.
Each OPCO should have provided the official numbers in their email announcement to the employees. My group cut all contractors, yes all, and about 40 employees in San Ramon.
I think San Ramon as a whole probably cut about 250 employees, and a good amount of their contractors. Chevron has sold their Concord office and all those employees are moving into CHVPK by May 2016. Chevron is also trying to get out of the Bishop Ranch 1 building, next door to CHVPK. These 2 actions will save the company a lot of money. CHVPK will be a lot busier, and parking will fill up more than it has in many years.
Don't buy a house right now in this area, period. The prices are so inflated only the most rich and the most idiotic would be buying right now. Unless of course, its a below market private sale. I live in San Ramon with a roommate, much better solution.
Getting laid is correct! Chevron is going to screw 7,000 more employees out of a job.
Haha I just read that as how many people got laid
If you have to ask this question, then you are probably 1 of the 7,000 that was just announced.
