Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Do Schlumberger treat employees with respect or just play a numbers game and fire and hire as required with no commitment to their people?

We should just standardize the salary. Say everyone makes $100,000 per year regardless of position, manager to tech to engineer, tenure or how long they worked at SLB, etc does not matter. Get rid of the bonus. Equal rights for all. If you make more than $100,000 USD/year expect a pay cut. If you make less than $100,000 USD/year, congratulations you are going to get a raise! Vote proposition 1...

My husband worked for SLB for two year, 80+ hours a week on no set schedule, and was then fired by his jackass of a manager after witnessing a work place accident where a coworker was injured and planned to sue the company. His manager would call him in all hours, he could work 18 hours straight, come home, shower and hit the pillow and the phone was ringing again. It was horrid, but I don't know how much was the Jackass manager and how much was the company. I hear he has been laid off now. couldnt happen to a better guy.

There are the ones that need to be taken care of first, I wait to see that. F***ing SLB stands strong after corrupt managers m yet I wait till they go.

Lol they call them selves managers in Houston. They are a joke. They bring every female engineer that sucks in the field to the office. A lot of them in DM youngsville.

What kind of management is this? Get out while u can.

I agree on all point. Especially regarding the management - they certainly don't need to know much. This is the most common problem with SLB in Houston. If you think that yo will survive this way with these young managers that don't know shit and that had laid down their career paths by the way of bribes, then you are wrong. Start doing your jobs finally.

Everyone including these managers laugh at your career orientation programs as this is not what it is and perhaps has never been. The careers at SLB ared done in totally different ways than someone can imagine.

No HR, you're wrong! Employees are NOT treated as professionals especially those in a non-management position. 10 to 15 years ago they were, but no longer. The more you make the least secure your position. Now they want the knowledge but aren't willing to pay for it. Managers don't have to have knowledge of the job they are managing. They're fresh out of school and green behind the ears. When the Mkt picks up you'll get what you pay for. Crap!

Schlumberger treats employees like professionals. So act a professional and get back to work!

Schlumberger is what it is, a business. I am sure the people who have to lay off their employees, hurt. It is probably one of the hardest things they have have to do. But they have to do what they have to do. If there is work, there is work. If there is not work, there is not work. Unfortunately, that means some may get let go when there is not enough work. Or the Business will go out of business and all are lost.

You answered your own question. The neither like or value their oldest employees. Seniority means nothing. Experience means nothing. They either consider you an asset or a liability. If you are a liability to them you're out.
