My boss commented Thursday afternoon that we are about to acquire NOV. Anyone else hearing this as well? I hope it isn't true as my dealings with NOV have never been pleasant. The sales people there have no concept of customer service. I'd hate for GE to cheapen itself by acquiring this sinking ship.

"GE wants top quality" I keep hearing about GE but yet they have laid off Top Quality since the layoffs had started at GE. I have seen so many of good employees get laid off while the lazy and big BS'rs stay . But hey it will all come to the surface sooner or later.
GE has lost jobs from vendors because they have people in high positions that know very little how to do a job right and get it out in time.

GE has plenty of cash. Talks are still being held. We are also looking at acquiring another company. Once acquisitions are complete we will then clean house. We want only top quality working for GE
i don't see how they can afford to buy anything, hell they can't even pay the suppliers. or buy tools. but i guess when emmelt can take home that big bonus ge can afford anything.

What about get rid of GE management and replace them with national oil Varco managers once they are bought the become GE anyway. Oil and Gas companies are taking advantage of the market (meaning) purchasing the smaller companies who offer good patent products and equipment. NOV is in competition with GE and my boss said, that GE can't afford to purchase and restructure the company with existing industry prices. So your boss is definitely spreading rumors. The products have all been piggyback either by purchased rights or universal components. There is no victory in this acquisition...only more talented people in the Unemployment Line. GE will sink the company in a year minimum and gain market share and beef up its shareholders pockets. That's the business, you'll think NOV has below standard employees and it's not about them, no major buys a company with the employees in mind especially, GE.

I heard the same thing. I sure hope it isn't true but if GE does ends up acquiring NOV we'd have to get rid of all the excess layers of NOV management first, replace them with our GE managment then get rid of the incompetent, lazy, non productive and so on...basically clean house and replace them with top notch GE employees.
