I had a business school professor once say the politics in an American corporation are the same as the politics in a communist country. Except in a communist country people get sent to jail or executed instead of layed-off or fired.

Man, I know that once you hit a perceived social level that nothing is your fault, but who is this clown who keeps posting Thanks Obama? You know the president has nothing to do with this right? Actually, you're thinking EXACTLY the way management wants you to think - blame somebody else so the industry will never get called to task for our own failures. Bottom line, management (along with other companies management) went to the Casino and bet on high oil prices, enough that a small change in the value of their portfolio (oil & gas reserves) leaves them almost insolvent. Well, the value of the portfolio has now changed and we see the results. This has happened 3 times in the last 15 yrs (Tech, Housing and now O&G) and we continue to kick the can down the road instead of solving problems
But hey, if you want to blame the Saudis, Obama or the F'n Milk Man then go do whatever you have to do to make yourself feel better. Just remember that management is laughing its ass off at you behind closed doors, as they dodge another bullet......
