Thread regarding ConAgra Foods Inc. layoffs

IT Situation

Often very unreasonable deadlines are assigned to projects without knowledge of the amount

of work required and and what kind of resources and budgets are needed.

Don't start me on ConAgra's "Agile" methodology,

there is nothing agile about them, some of these projects have "dragged on" until

it was determined the project was not tracking,

so it was stopped.

Though ConAgra promotes "standard measurements" for reviews of employee performance,

there is still a lot of favoritism when determining rating.

At least in IT the managers change every few months, the priorities change all the time and this is making it difficult to work on long term goals.

The managers aren't necessarily bad... We have super low morale in IT because we're all getting outsourced to India. All project work has stopped and there isn't much to do right now. Nobody really cares anymore because the company has turned their backs on us.

A little more longevity with managers on a team would be a positive. When a manager writes their end of year review, the employee should be allowed to see it and present evidence if the employee believes items in the review are inaccurate. The manager could change or not change the review, but at least they would be informed.
