Focus on making your Team Members Happy and not OVER WORKING them and you will bring back your customers. Give them Incentive to up sales, like true gainsharing and not lowering their labor budget every 2 months. Team Members don't care any more and that is the end no matter what you do. Why would you not take care of the employees that spend the most time with the customer. Regional, spend a week in a store, how about THANKSGIVING WEEK with open availability and make the Computer make your schedule and see how it is. I just don't get it. It makes no sense to me.

So true. I once read that Mackey said he hired people who knew how to do all the things he didn't know how to do. Well John you picked the wrong people. AC Gallo toured our store and all he cared about was that for the two hours he was in the store, the produce was stacked perfectly and all the signage was in place. It took almost a week to prepare for that visit so we could turn our store into Buckingham Palace for his royal highness's visit. Same thing happened when Walter Robb came. Just a dog and pony show. I won't share the big idea he had but of course it involved some new stupid untested pricey technology he wanted to add. None of it made sense so we didn't do it after all. John, since you have sold 99% of your shares and are just a figurehead now, let me give it to you straight: You hired some real assholes. And unfortunately it seems you became one yourself along the way. You've grown too fast, put off needed investments for too long, and "accountability" only seems to apply to the front line team members and not the grand poo-bahs at Corporate, Regional and all their buddies. They have no accountability for their arbitrary decisions, bad decisions, indecisions, bad behavior and constant errors. Why does it have to be this way? Why can't you for once LISTEN TO WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING? And notice that this layoff idiocy and insane expansion isn't helping the stock anyway. Get out of the bubble and put some front line team members in charge of running things for a change. Combine all the regions into maybe three and you could fire 9 presidents and 2 dozen VPs and probably run a hell of a lot better.

I will do what I have to do to get my check and that's it. After the labor cuts/ layoffs & well gainsharing to me is a joke at this point. When we have started to do well corporate just changes the guidelines and we the worker bees get less $ and well anyway…. I just say just give me good raise. I am not working my self to death for that chump change those of you still in the trenches shouldn't either what are you going to do when you are let go and broken down? Save that body and energy for living/working a better life without WF. The only way I would want Regional at WF stores during the holidays is if they where actually helping the customers and the worker bees during the holidays and
"really did work" that means showing customers where things are, bagging, putting out hard goods groceries, working dairy, stacking apples putting out that produce, unloading those trucks, cutting that meat and seafood, wrapping flowers, washing dishes, cutting vegetable and fruits, baking up those cookies packing up those cakes and pies, keeping the areas clean, the floor the customer bathrooms, wipe those tables off!! I MEAN REALLY WORKING. How about some of them work on Thanksgiving and pull a customer over the edge about their turkey dinner getting messed up and make it right for them where they leave with a smile……..and miss that noon Thanksgiving with their family and have to eat the leftovers and some of the family is already gone damn you missed them ……maybe next year…….damn not they died and well no more holidays with them you where to busy at WF making other people smile but you have only your self to blame right. You could of found another job and pulled your self up by your bootstraps!
Oh, NO we won't see them do any of those things they don't give a hot damn and they don't give a hot damn that we the understaffs are going to explode this holiday season with the LACK OF HELP that we have as long as Wall St. is made happy.
Mackey you have mis-managed this company into the ground maybe you should of gotten that college degree? Nope. There are plenty of smart people without one but maybe YOU should have expanded your reading list with books other than finding what it is you "want to hear" and then reading those books! There are none so blind as those that refuse to see. If you do read this Mackey I will start with a recommendation: "The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism" and please try to read it with an open mind and if you have already read it……read it again. Mackey, you aren't going to change Wall St. you will appease them and along with that your company into the ground or maybe that's your intent is to take the money and run? It also wouldn't hurt you to read some Paul Krugman either I know the right hates him but at least do it with an "open mind" Think about your control issues also have you made the mistake of surrounding your self with a bunch of yes men and women?
