Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

How do Roy and Scott sleep at night? Why are they still here?

Gorgon was touted as the showcase project for Chevron to demonstrate superior project management skills and rebuke analyst complaints that we didn't deliver what we promised. The head of PRC was redirected to run ABU, and the PM of the over-budget Agbami project parachuted into place. After 28 years of planning, a massive Phase 2 recycle, and the most comprehensive PRC assurance plan ever, Gorgon took flight. It has turned out to be the most colossal disaster in industry history, from a cost and schedule angle, and has brought the corporation near the brink of extinction from a cash-flow perspective as well as cementing our reputation as the worst project managers in the industry (with plenty of honorable mentions from Bigfoot, ALNG, etc).

Seven years later, Roy and Scott are still yukking it up in Perth, finger-pointing at regulators and unions, collecting fat expat bonuses, jetting over to the Melbourne Cup and Australian Open, and generally living fat and happy. Who is being held accountable for Gorgon?? Let me guess - the old PRC CSOC Gold Standard discourages PM changes mid-flight as it could impact project performance. Could performance actually be any worse?? Honorable leaders would have tendered their resignations in shame long ago.

If Gorgon actually followed Chevron Processes from the start (Systems Completion as an example) and let the Aussies get on with it it may have been in better shape also. F%$# Yanks coming over here telling Aussies how to build and operate LNG Plants. HELLO!!!

Ref anon 942 - all these pearls of wisdom coming and you still have not figured out how to protect your school children. At least we have the humanity to mourn our dead dogs while you sit around and twiddle your thumbs as children get killed at school everyday. Cheers Mate - you can rot in hell

Unless you're from Australia, it's hard to account for all the bullshit you couldn't expect. I'll admit, chevron forgot to budget in pet bereavement costs for the employees. Thank you Mrs Thatcher for exporting all those unions to Down Under.

Welcome back Colin you have been missed. They both sleep very well on their enormous ego pillows. If it wasn't for all the dumb aussies Roy and Scott would be fine.... What about Brubaker the dstream gorgon PM ? His scope has been off the rails since 2013, and he still has a job ? Incredible hubris and lack of accountability.
