Level 3 Layoffs, Former TW Employee

Level 3 bought TW and has been slowly getting rid of all the former TW employees. The ones that are not laid off usually leave. To date the estimate is as high as 50% have either been laid off or quit on their own. Supposedly Jack Waters was supposed to keep this 'dismantling' from happening. Obviously that is not the case. Level 3 is a shithole anyway. Their network is a kluge and no one knows what they are supposed to be doing. Inefficiency abounds at Level 3. The worst part is that it seems that Level 3 doesn't seem to mind it.

To Level 3's credit, they have not imported a ton of H1B visas, at least not yet. No reason to do that when you can find enough Americans to take shitty pay and benefits. LOL

I have been to Broomfield, the Level 3 'mothership'. There is NO ONE (other than NOC employees) at 745 am and NO ONE (again other than NOC employees) after 515 pm. This is what happens when companies have no loyalty to their employees. The employees have no loyalty to the company, either. Kind of appalling when compared to the corporate culture at TW.

It is important for anyone working in Level 3 to give people a heads up for layoffs if they know. This company has no mercy on giving people any type of notice. It is insane.

I have to agree with the former TW engineer. I was at Level3 for 15 years. Too many incompetent people in charge. They know how to work the system and keep their jobs. Now to be fair there are many dedicated and talented workers there too. Too bad most get beat down during the unfair yearly review process. The amount of work is far greater than the current employees can handle. Critical systems are often ignored because of this as new revenue is more important. I have seen too many days of having to stay up 24 hours to complete the required tasks. Quite often back to back days of this. If you have had four hours sleep in two days and make a mistake expect no mercy on your next review. The last few years there I saw three good people quit due to stress, I recently made it four. My advise to the good people there is to get out now before your health and family life are damaged.

Actually that's not the case, it's the Time Warner employees that have no loyalty like school children. Since we bought that company, the level 3 sales people I work with are all leaving for better positions because they can't stand the Time Warner personal. Have never seen such a bunch of unprofessional inappropriate behavior by anyone other than the former time-warner people.
