This is affecting the families too. The employees committed to the company and worked hard. Now that times are hard they are all just a number. Waiting around, promised work, hang in there with us stick it out, give us a few more days, a few more weeks we have work for you just need to finish working out the details. Then the outcome was layoffs and furloughs. Really? Bet that will make for a nice yearly bonus for the higher ups. Not taking care of your employees and their families now only proves the employees are nothing to the company and nobody is going to want to stick it out or come back on board when you need them. That is how you make your money and stay in business. The employees are what make the company strong. You expect everyone to sit around and wait not knowing anything or keeping anyone posted. An email or phone call once a week letting everyone know where things stand is that too much to ask or even offering the option of a layoff. If there is no work for them let them go. Try looking at it from the other side and what they are going through and what you are asking of them.

To be that supportive of a company that treats their employees so disrespectfully, you must be on the other side of this situation or are defending someone who is. Look at all the negative comments on this board. People have a right to be upset and rightfully so, and you are entitled to your opinion. If this was affecting you negatively at all you would not feel that way and if it is and you are okay with it then that is on you. We do not have to agree.
An employee is a tool. U don't like it? Run ur own business. stop with the family bull blah blah blah and grow a pair of balls. SLB owes u nothing but the last pay check.
