Why is Schlumberger managers and Supervisors being so secretive about layoffs??? .....Give the workers some respect before all jump ship at once

I like to keep the info to myself until the last moment. It makes me feel so important.

I'm a manager. We aren't told anything. You find out about layoffs way late, and only if it's a person on your team that is being released. I can easily handle firing poor performers and have done so, but layoffs are very different because there are people that are quite good at what they do.

The truth.... They don't know. I was in that role before and as a mid level or lower level manager I'd find out the day of a lay-off. Often time the Operators found out before me.
