Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Things to be thankful for...

For those of laid off, we received notice pay, severance, and WFM is paying unemployment ( a rare occurrence). We were laid off BEFORE the Holiday madness, so " Blackout Week" isn't in our vocabulary, nor is "Search & Rescue". We can travel and see family this Thanksgiving. We can have Thanksgiving dinner with our families, not arrive after dinner to eat leftovers. We can plan on being with friends this Christmas, we can MAKE PLANS. New Year's Eve? We can go to a party! We can sleep in the NEXT DAY. Inventory? Sunday after Christmas sounds about right for Inventory. We can go skiing instead of counting Boiron Homeopathic pill bottles.62

We have something solid on our resumes, we will take our experiences from Whole Foods and make something better.

Joni - yes. When I was laid off my " STL" - told me to apply, and the WFM wouldn't fight it. I was approved for unemployment ( for a year!)

I'm looking for jobs of course, but it gives me enough breathing room to wait until after the Holidays to find my next great job.27

This post warmed my heart. I stayed and I am regretting it after I was given my new position at WFM. I think it's too late to take severance. I have double the work with 1/2 the time and help,

Good post. I now work for a company that only counts its backstock. An independent third party contractor counts everything on the shelves. That's how it should be...an independent count that lets employees come to work refreshed instead of bleary. And...we are closed Thanksgiving and on Christmas Day too. Looking forward to the holidays!

Thank you for your post. You echoed everything I have been feeling but didn't want to say for the sake of not antagonizing those who have been so traumatized by this. I hope that everyone comes to see that life on the other side is much sweeter. Thank you for my "get out of jail free" card, WFM. Wishing everyone a good holiday and a better new year!

Got a job and I'm gonna spend time with my family . Go online and do some shopping . gonna do Black Friday just like any other American . There is life after this one company .
