Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

COPC is a good company.

COPC is a good company with great benefits when times are good and bad. I got severed and my pay is not nearly as good sit was when I was working for COPC. I have trimmed my buying and lifestyle, exactly what COPC is having to do. Come on folks don't take it personal they only do what they have to do to survive. It hurts the whole industry not just one little person like me, but it is the nature of the beast. Pull on those boots get your ass off the couch quit bitching and move on. COPC was good to me even when they gave me the white folder and the thank you for your service. Life goes on and I don't have to be employed by COPC to survive. So long its been good to work there.

I went through a bully manager situation this year. Yes in most cases you just deal with it. In extreme cases you do something about it because if you don't the situation will never change in the future. We want people to want to work here.

The corporate culture at ConocoPhillips breeds bully bosses. The staff can do nothing to address the bully bosses and human resources chooses to do nothing to address the bully bosses.

No ConocoPhillips did not treat me very well as an employee. I departed a job of 15 years at another company based on the career goals and objectives conversation at the interview. Unfortunately day one proved to be quite a surprise as the conversation was nothing more than lip service.

COPC treated you VERY well when you were an employee and oil prices were high. I'm glad for those that found better and more satisfying jobs, but if it was so bad, you could have jumped ship a couple of years ago for a better job. YOU stayed becaue of pay and benefits and not because your boss was a buddy. Evidently, you stayed for PAY and decided to be unhappy with management. I'm one of the 30+ years employees and have been through many more downturns than you can imagine. During those times, it was always rumored that the company would fail and be would be bought out. This may still be true in today's enviroment, but I'm happy to still be here and I believe we can be stronger company as we make another transistion into a new enviroment. As one of my previous bosses, told me "Things change, deal with it". It wasn't meant to be mean, IT'S LIFE. and I've dealt with it for over 30 years.

The post is accurate assuming the bottom 40 percent was cut, not the top 40 percent. You gals and guys sucking tail are the bottom fat asses with literally a pear shape ass from sitting in that chair all day pushing paper. All you remaining fat asses are the complaisant under paid no bodies. This especially applies to the current Head of Trading, Head of Power and that mini me Tom C. Spend more time trying how to score another load serving deal instead of conspiring how to hang on to your job. Seriously, COP is the shittiest shit hole company I've ever worked. I left long ago because of the rats and pussys that run the show. Clowns. Mickie mouse management. To all the axed: life will be better in 6 months. Trust me. Talk to anyone that has worked there. It's all upside from here. Peace!

The original post is bang on. When revenue goes down 60% you have to make changes, just like you would have to do if your household income dropped by 60%. COP isn't a charity and there isn't a lifelong employment guarantee when you sign up. They treat people very well and those who were let go were treated with respect. I'm tired of listening to all the whiners. You weren't whining when oil was $100 and you were getting a nice bonus. If you want stability go work for the government.
