Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

An Outsider's Perspective - COP's posting

I was reading this posting at the COP site

The part about committees and team decisions, etc., sounds so much like CVX. Poor / weak management that hides behind this teamwork / committee approach. It's not going to change. CVX will just go downhill.

"Consensus is the absence of Leadership"

The above headline is a Margaret Thatcher quote. Below is more from her ladyship.

"Ah consensus … the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies in search of something in which no one believes, but to which no one objects; the process of avoiding the very issues that have to be solved, merely because you cannot get agreement on the way ahead. What great cause would have been fought and won under the banner 'I stand for consensus'?"

Political Correctness ruins everything. I still remember the day I rode up the escalator in HOU150 and saw the 20-foot tall gay pride rainbow flag hanging on the wall. I don't have anything against homosexual people, I have friends that are gay. But, you don't see a 20-foot tall flag on the wall that represents heterosexual people. Why the hell should I care what someone's sexual preference is, at my work site?

The fundamental problem with Chevron is "Political Correctness". Just that simple. Analyze it. Political correctness is a mindset that makes excuses for allowing weakness, not executing effectively, accepting lame ideas for the sake of not excluding anyone, diversity for the sake of diversity, and a whole host of other ills that do nothing more than handicap a for-profit capital enterprise. Can you imagine if Political correctness was punished and scourged at Chevron? Where would we be today compared to our peers? I'll tell you, we will be at the Top and kicking ass. That's where.

CVX is decentralized to extreme where the right hand does not know what the left is doing...and group hugs and who knows who rules in PMPs. PDC's. career progression etc......feel sad for all talented folks we lose over some of the non performing ass kissing and facebook buddy buddy galore folks...gradually losing hope in CVX...sad to see great chevron-Texaco-Caltex coming to its knees....the decision makers need to be held accountable and fired...CEO needs to get a 98% (being somewhat generous here) pay cut along with all the senior management and DE's and DRB's involved from phase 1 to phase 5 in the failing (way far behind schedule and 5x over budget) projects....my wish for Santa...pls. do something!!
