Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Can Sperry be touched while in limbo?

After this mornings' earning call. It is likely to see more layoffs soon. With Sperry being divested are they immune from layoffs or does Halliburton still have rule over this PSL ?

Technology... designed by geniuses... made for monkeys to operate.

There are no special skills in operations beside being competent. Just don't be incompetent.

Sperry isnt "divested" till the BHI acquisition is finalized.

A buyer is still not in place. It's fair game. Cut cut cut! Let the blood spill. From top to bottom:)

Who's talking about DD's? I think they were referring to people who are familiar with Sperry tech. And operations.

DD's are not hard to find. You could hire a bunch of them in a single afternoon if you needed to.

To the original post, yes, people will still be laid off but with one caveat. If you are viewed as key to the business being viable in the future based on what buyers were told then your safe. People with skills/knowledge that can come from any source i.e. Nothing specifically related to Sperry are the ones in trouble first. Bottom line, if you have unique skills / knowledge then you're basically safe.

Hal could still fire all of Sperry and just shelve the technology to be sold as is. This is not likely to happen, but then again when has that ever stopped the powers that be.

No law says a division must be retained. When divesting it is always better to present a profitable division rather than a losing battle
