I worked there for 30 years......

It was a wonderful company to work for......until it wasn't.

High ranking executives, during the early 90's were concerned about one,

and only one thing......themselves...and to heck with anyone below them.

Fortunately, during that timeframe.....early retirements were superb.....and many of us

took them and never looked back.......you could not pay me any sum of money

to work there today.....it is impersonal, nothing but phone and computer tag....

and no sense of respect for the individual........TJ would be turning over in his grave.

I worked IBM from 77 to 92 taking a generous buyout at the San Jose Cottle rd plant

started on the Winchester/Madrid line in B005 then moved into building maintenance. I loved it.

RESPECT for the individual, company sports program with the best fields and pro sports figures speaking at every 1/4ly banquet. I was proud when I told people worked at IBM...I still bleed IBM Blue to this day for the best company I have had the honor to work for....but the best part was the janitorial crew running a book there!!

alas...it sounds like every other major technology company ....including a company that touts it's own blue theme now

If you were proud 30 years ago...... You should have worked for them in the 1960s ! It was a truly a (high) quality company of quality people. I've never seen one like it since ....!

Sadly, as another 30 year IBM vet, I have to concur 100%. I used to be so proud to say I worked for IBM. But that was a long time ago.

I left on my own in 2011, I havent seen anyone in person during my departure, left my laptop in the office, hr was god-knows-where, had a phone interview - all good, all good, thanks for 11 years here bye... GBS...
