Dude - seriously? Are you even aware that there are MANY companies out there that give no severance! We should be blessed that we work in technology which tends to be fairly generous as it relates to pay, benefits and, yes, SEVERANCE. OK!!!

OK, if it's true, how are they going to keep employees around and keep them workign, or keep them quiet, or support their "not favorite but we're going to keep it around for a while" products if everyone starts leaving this terrible sinking ship?

Executives are making an art of obfuscating their new information such that it leaves a huge amount of wiggle room for them to spin this a dozen different ways once they know how it's being received.

So, in true IBM style, ISAP is used to mean at least three different things for us:

  1. the plan itself,

  2. the paypoint after severance, and

  3. the actual severance payment.

Sometimes it's used in a sentence implying that it's only for early retirement and sometimes it's referenced as if it applies to all employees.

Is there a way for us to internally verify this information without being put on the "he's getting ready to leave, so we'll just RA him now" list?
