I am an MBA student, today I had a course about ''Grow through Acquisition'' . We have learned about mergers that most mergers fails according with: CBS News between 50-85% ; Harvard Business Review between 70-90 %; Business Review Europe up to 90% FAIL. So, the chance for Baker Hughes - Halliburton merger to go through are............I am afraid................0 %.
My own opinion is that BHI carefully they will have to reorganize them-self, at some point this year.
In a company doesn't matter to much if a manager has or not a MBA. In Baker Hughes still are a FEW great managers and they don't have any MBA. The true leaders are born, this leaders has changed the world and the way of living for all of us, they never went to a Business School or some of them not even graduate the collage. MBA is for those that fell maybe less confident to step up, or still not ready to take the risk, those who has a passion for business and like to study business cases to learned from mistakes that others made before, those who want first to master the skills and knowledge of management and leadership and after that to step up. If they completed a MBA this doesn't mean that they can't fail. Most of the born leaders have failed. Steve Jobs was a failure in his early career, but after that he come back to change the way of living for a entire world. As my conclusions: 1) The merger WILL NOT GO through 2) BHI still have a FEW GREAT managers, directors etc. without MBA and they don't need any MBA. 3) MBA is for those less confident to step up, afraid of failures and focussed ONLY in success (pretty sure they will have a few failures) 4) Natural born leaders can change the world they have this gods, some of them had failed before, but because of their ambition for progress, success and change their recovery always is stunning for a entire world.
