Thread regarding GE Oil & Gas layoffs

Melodramatic Micro Managers

1). Unprofessional 2). Lack of respect for others 3). Lack of confidence 4). drive fear 5). Point their fingers and find who to place the blame on in the middle of meetings 5). Ask several redundant questions to make people feel inferior, useless, and incapable 6). Question/test people's abilities and skills in the room, in a crowd 7). Very dependent on their authority as they have nothing more going for them 8). attack and embarrass indirect reports (yet roaming around trying to do lunch with the crowd they clearly don't fit in with) 9). Lack communication skills (talk too much, talk over you, interrupt you, don't listen, etc.) 10). Delegate every single task and tell you exactly how to "hold the pencil," like them, if not their sighing and rubbing their sweaty right hand over their nasty balding head...

Leaders ???? I think not.

Why is it that managers at GE only have "one job?" They have expectations for everyone else to have the ability to multitask, yet they get overwhelmed with one task or it takes 5 plus managers (and then some from overseas) to get it done (all while blaming their "forced" involvement on their incompetent reports because I mean they have so many other things they could be doing). This may be the answer as to why they get so rattled and upset when they supposedly catch themselves having to do things themselves; well, it's probably because they don't have enough to do in the first place!!!

There are so many "managers" with their own offices, but they have no direct reports. Oh wait - the office is to handle that ONE very overwhelming and tiring PPT or Project in a oh so private environment. Ha Ha Ha!

On the lack of communication skills - I completely agree with as well (I agree with it all of course). There is one "manager" (who looks like a tired ass geek/pervert, if I might add) who talks way too much and then forgets what he says. He jumps in and out of meetings, sends messages to question people on processes and others responsibilities, in the midst of the meetings. He's all over the place when it comes to whatever "expectations" he's trying to set. I mean, it goes on; a real piece of work. He really creates havoc All he has to do is talk with other managers and get on the same page rather than create so much confusion meeting after meeting with the people who have no power basically. Unless he's trying to make himself feel valuable LOL poor guy

Either way, enjoy the "managing" of such a small workload because once these imminent layoffs come, reality will set in as well. GE has no idea what multitasking really is.

They are too busy appointing action items, holding people accountable, and micro managing. Go leadership!

Yes I certainly agree with everyone. I did encounter same situation which is mentioned the above comment. There is IT (CIO) manager whose only job to prepare PPT but coming to deliver a product he is zero.

Clearly, GE O&G doesn't even need subordinates provided these examples of intelligent, productive, and hands on "leaders."

They have to "babysit" the lower ranks so what's the point, right?

They are far from true leadership that's for sure. They have no boundaries either.

How about being asked by a manager (and i use that term loosely) to email a vendor, then stand behind you and tell what to write because they don't like how it was worded but it ends up being the exact same thing that you just entered. But then again i am just an old uneducated boob and have to be told exactly how to do things. Funny thing is I never had problems loading aircraft while in the AF or supervising my troops while in the Army. HEHE I said BOOB.

Totally agreed. It is more predominant in IT as any one who just talk and keep on talking takes over as a manager. I had a manager correcting me my sentence on ppt and pointing that on a performance review after more than 10 years of experience in various industries. They just wait to find a small fault and are very adept at making it as the biggest issue the company is facing or sometimes human race is facing.
