5 companies that lost the most buying back their own shares. You guessed it.

The companies with five biggest paper losses:

  • IBM: - $9.8 billion

-Qualcomm: -$7.4 billion -aha, here we are!

  • American Express: -$4.1 billion

  • Exxon Mobil: -$3.9 billion

  • Hess: -$2.9 billion

  • Chevron: -$2.8 billion

Interesting anecdote is that stalwarts jumped thru the hoop to cut 1.4B by trimming 15% of the workforce just to lose whopping $7.4 billion in buybacks. And isn't from the borrowed money? Wow!
