Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

So, once again, which is correct in this environment, no salary adjustements. BIG question is, will upper management decline bonuses and raises

Probably not, they will say, "the board of directiors wanted me to stay".

ALL Salaries will be adjusted downward. Pay cuts across the board is what I've heard from HR!

A friend of mine works in another company ... he is a firmer covert ops army guy. As a manager he was having trouble with the current situation and had suggested to his CEO that folks earning under $75,000 a year should not be touched as that affects families, then he explained how he lroposed that folks salaries would be cut in increasing amounts with higher income. He was very patient and drew me a diagram to explain - it was a pyramid and he was very careful in explaining the various income tranches etc.

I drew a pyramid next to his ... I cut it the bottom if the pyramis and said this is how it works. He asked what happens if that doesn't work. I cut some more and explained the folks at the top got paid extra to make the cuts. Finally we ended up with one person at the top - then the penny dropped.

I should have also stated, that upper management has "A LOT" of folks banging on thier door to come over to their side for guidance in these tough times. It's a very valuable commodity.
