Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Well, I used to love her, but it's all over now . . . .

Oil futures settled with a loss on Thursday for a fourth straight session, as turmoil in China continued to raise the risk for a slowdown in energy demand from one of the world’s top consumers.

With prices already at their lowest levels in more than 11 years, analysts have been weighing the likelihood that U.S. prices could plunge to $20 a barrel this year.

Speaking of love. Want to admit I have a crush on someone but can't. I know this person is single as I am. But not sure if my crush will reciprocate. Should I admit it even in times like these?

Don't feel alone in your observations. I too have noticed the deteriorating business sense going on with the company over the last 8-10 years. I suspect you are a former wireline product line as that is the true roots to the company that made it possible to now withstand the nonsense that it is today. It operates for cash flow now, not profit. The shareholders provide money for wages and bonuses as they are duped into the scheme of believing it is a well run company. The philosophy the company used in the past is what made the company so huge that it can afford to make huge mistakes now. It's like holding 90% of the chips at the Texas Holdem table, you can take anybody out even without the cards. They can afford to lose.

They might have kicked me out, but still have a couple of thousand dspp shares, steadily declining in value (oh and the options I was kindly given have dropped to zero value). Have to leave them for a couple of years, and throw away the options.

I used to be very proud to say I worked for them, back 'in the day' it was the company to aspire to join. It feels that SLB's qualities are eroding very quickly - replaced with nonsense 'transformation' KPIs and mantras. So many mediocre timid managers, now, fire-fighting, looking after themselves first, slavishly following the hierarchy above them. I can name dozens of laid off (good) technical guys, but barely any laid off managers - it does not make sense.
