These things take decades to play out - we had a good decade, now things changed, we are about to have a bad decade. Do you have patience?

I bought $125,000 in Chevron stock on Friday. Even if I am ROM'd, I believe that the stock price will go up over the next few years; once spending gets checked, and the large LNG facilities start producing, rather than costind billions a year.
What the OP says is scarily true. The decade and a half that followed the 1986 oil price burst was a long oil bear market. And then we had a decade and half of bull market punctuated by the 2008 economic crisis. And now we probably have the bear again. A lot of the younger people had only seen oil price going up staying close to 90s. But now the crude reality hits! Its the great commodity cycle.
Is the only option to stay with the sinking ship?
What about exiting, and coming back on the upswing? (in 10 years, as proposed here)
I have plenty of patience. What I don't have is money! LOL
Chevron did not have patience with me - was let go in November 2015
