Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Not a way to run a company!

With the markets, don't wait for Merrill-Lynch to contact you. Call them and control what's left in your plan NOW!!! Contrary to the papers you receive, You don't have to wait for M-L to contact you.

Shame on SWN for letting go of the people that built the company! You can't replace the long term employees with cheap stupid college grad labor. What a chicken shit way to run a company! Karma will bite that logic. I'm sorely disappointed in some of the upper management that I used to have respect for. SWN needs to cut the mid and upper level salaries.

Oh I'd bet Texan ID: @FzKJYve-ylk has a pair of boots but they'll need to pull them out of you know where, AFTER they get their head out of somebody's you know what!

Back to the first paragraph of this post...

"With the markets, don't wait for Merrill-Lynch to contact you. Call them and control what's left in your plan NOW!!! Contrary to the papers you receive, You don't have to wait for M-L to contact you."

...great advice! Get it done folks!

To the supposed person so proud of their 20 years experience: I totally agree with the last "former employee" post. What a POS. You are exactly the employee that ran SWN into the ground with an attitude like yours. The door can't hit you hard enough when they escort you out. You need to be in next weeks round of layoffs and go count your 20 years on one hand in the unemployment line. I wouldn't hire your pompous, self-righteous attitude if you were the last O&G person left to hire. You are definitely not "the right person- doing the right thing". Loose site of the vision and values and you are the result. I seriously Hope that Management can see what they have left keeping you around. Cry, bitch and get you some boots to pull on. You'll need them soon.

Don't talk to me about boot straps. I wasn't laid off and i left a few years ago but have many that were impacted by stupid management decisions and purchases, so don't call cry baby on me. You can't lay off 500+ years of experience and run a company on cheap labor. I've been around since the 1970's and I've been through every up and down there has been. And I'm still kicking it. What I'm bitching about is how companies lay off those that give their daily lives to build a company which many of these people did after the big lawsuit of 1999-2000 and then get kicked to the curb. You probably weren't there when the company only had 35 people in Houston! They rebuilt SWN and made her in the good days! It's very apparent looking at the list who they let go. If you've really been around 20 years you need to get over it and realize you are probably on the next list. Obviously you have no compassion for the human race or your co-workers. And you can cry all the way home when the door hits you on the next round. Good luck with the commodity market and looking for work.

There really was no way for this company to survive without making these hard choices that had to be made. It's unfortunate for those who were let go but for those of us who remain it's still going to be a long road for recovery in this commodity price environment and there will no doubt in my opinion be more let go in the future. So quit bitching like a little cry baby and pull yourself up by your boot straps and deal with the hand you were dealt! I have been laid of by several different companies in this industry over the last 20 years so I know how you feel. I guess this is a good format for you to complain about all the shitty things that happen to you but just get over it!
