Thread regarding Arris Group Inc. layoffs

Belfast

staff where briefed in Belfast today that cuts are a distinct possibility due to overlaps identified by senior management.

These overlaps concern specific software products built in Belfast that are similar in purpose to what Arrris already have.

No announcements as of yet, it appears the full review of the software portfolio is still ongoing

Going to be some extremely dysfunctional management types looking for a job.

Now if the Asperger’s Society was looking a few high scoring spectrum freakazoids that would be different.

the software products built in Belfast do have active deployments yes, however according to the briefing it depends on if Arris wish to continue with certain product lines - this seems mainly to be based on analysis of future revenue potential and if they fit in with the latest buzz word strategy's.... "cloud" ... etc

At least one big customer has been told by senior Arris management that the software product they are using is "under review"

in the UK the terms 'let go' or 'made redundant' are most commonly used

How do you say "layoff" in Belfast? A redundancy? Right? Are you using other terms (e.g., "Job cuts", "pink slips", "RIFs" here in the USA)...

Are such products not currently used worldwide and thus arris would be cutting its own revenue to let go of them?
