You would think that Halliburton could be a little more humane about how they do this. Most decent companies offer services to help their laid off employees with services to help them find other jobs. Usually when a company this large has a big layoff they help their employees with resumes, job hunting services, etc. This company doesn't care about the employees that have invested their lives working hard for them. Shame on you Halliburton!!!

Really? Your gonna say someone is a republican because they think they should be self sufficient and not bit about getting laid off in a downturn. Well right back at ya. You must be a dumb fu democrat that thinks you are entitled to free money no matter how fu**ing dumb and lazy you are. And ya I have been laid off before and out of work for over 6 months despite applying for over 300 jobs and doing 20 interviews during the recession. But you know what I did. I got off my ass every day applied again and eventually got something. I didn't blame my previous company and i didn't tell my neighbors to give me half their salary because I was a dumb bastard like you. Grow a pair of balls and take care of your family. Unless of course your wife is your sister then in that are just ask your daddy to help y'all out.
Shame on Hal? Shame on all you entitled crybabies. If your job performance matches your mouth, it's an effing miracle they kept you on over a month. Ever think your behavior is what got your name on the list? Personally, I'm glad you're gone. The rest of us are better off without you.
"Did you get paid for this work" "that's all your owed from this company". That's some attitude, you must be a republican. All for one attitude. Halliburton has brainwashed you. Sad b@stard that you are. Try other industries and Seahawks during downturns they treat staff much better. They think about the future medium to long term, not short sighted like this industry. Take my advice, leave this industry and don't come back. They treat employees like shit and Halliburton are the worst for it. A country of whiners? You obviously still have your job or you've never lost one to know how it feels. Why don't you grow up you dumb c0ck sucker. Pity Halliburton didn't fire you (do you even work there at all?) and kept someone else with some humility. Sad brainwashed pr1ck
Halliburton has used locations (like the old FE shop at Alvarado) to train their young ones coming in. They would be given a project like, reorganizing a room from of tooling. It didn't matter if it totally messed up everything in there for the workers. They would get their pat on the head and then bring another one in. Then up and shuts the shop down. Only a few special people were offered placement. I despise the arrogance of this company. And the way they would just show up at someone's station, break the news, then stand there and watch them load up their gear so they could be escorted from the property.
They so provide help. They have a company that will help you with your resume and also helps you with practice interviews.
They do offer that.
I have been on this roller coaster ride for 26 yrs.... I've been with Smith International, Weatherford, Halliburton, Drilex, Baker Hughes, and now I'm with National Oilwell Varco. Been with this company 14 years, its the same every time it gets slow!!!!! if you can't handle THE roller coaster ride then the oilfield is not for the faint of heart. So MAN up and quit whining.... I have put up with a lot of BS in my time and I have always had a job, never been laid off and never have I KISSED anybody's A#$ so just put your nose to the grind stone and push forward.
God Bless. Have a GREAT Weekend John 14:6
I have been with the company for 15 years and they have treated me well, but at the end of the day it's all about the bottom line
These are trying times for everyone, not just Halliburton employees. Try looking at thelayoff.com pages for Baker or Schlumberger or Weatherford - same whining, different company. I wonder how much of the whining is from the Millennium entitlement generation. The oilfield isn't like it used to be, where workers worked for pride and pay, not like today where so many expect to be coddled and for private for-profit companies to behave like our deficit-spending government....
Sounds like a bunch of whining babies move on and trust me they do provide help and you will be sick of them calling you
I learned one thing by working here. The moment you sign on, they are looking for a reason to get rid of you. Even when times are good. Employees are nothing but a line in an excel document to management. They say they care and want to help their employees. But it's only a front to recruit cheap labor instead of maintaining experienced help.
I can see that you are upset, and no one can blame you for that. Please know that you WILL receive a call from a company names Right Choice. This company will assist you with things like creating a new resume, understanding the current job market, identifying transferable skills for a new industry if you so desire, job searching and more.
Best of luck to you and prayers to all.
Did you get paid for your work? If so that's all you are owed by this company. They owe you absolutely nothing except your paycheck for work performed. They gave you a severance. They didn't even have to do that. We now live in a country of whiners. Go find a job yourself. Don't rely on someone else to do everything for you.
