Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Here's one for the panty waisted whiners that hate Hal

Hal provides a 401K. They don't have to do that.

Hal marches up to 4% employee contributions into their 401K. They don't have to do that.

Hal provides vacation time. They don't have to do that.

Hal has paid holidays. They don't have to do that.

Hal provides short term and long term disability pay. They don't have to do that.

Hal gives service awards. They don't have to do that.

Hal provides bonuses to some management. They don't have to do that.

Hal provides better insurance than you can buy off the street. Don't believe that? Go out and buy some.

Hal gives severance packages. They don't have to do that.

Hal pays for job related educational courses. They don't have to do that.

You want better? Start your own business and provide more to your employees.

The original posters but plug has fallen out, his sphincter has become flaccid by years of taking it up the ass from various PGL's and managers

Halliburton doesn't owe me anything. I work here because they have been good to me. Are there some people in positions that I don't agree with?! Yes, but that's my opinion and I'm no their manager soooooo..... Remember this isn't a prison. You can walk out on your own free merit. I read some of these posts on here and I'm appalled and I hope some of the negative people on here get what's coming to them. Halliburton has afforded me work experience and opportunities that I am grateful for. The downturn sucks and in fact has affected my life and given me feelings of guilt to have a job some day's at this point. When you are walking 30 year hands out of the building who have coached and mentored you it is not a good feeling.... It's a feeling of emptiness and sadness because we get to know our co workers families, kids etc. You have to remember as I have to, this is a business and there is no business that can run on negative cash flow. We are down to HISTORIC lows in our pricing as are our competitors. It's bad but I choose to fight the fight rather that the other. You should do the same. Great Post. Hal doesn't owe ME nothing.

Every company offers only what is necessary to retain employees and all of those benefits may be terminated tomorrow without recourse. There are no gifts except to VP and above.

How do you get that I'm crying--just stated my take on things. I know that It's my choice to be there.

How do you know I was talking to your post? They're all anonymous. How do you know the same person is replying to everything? Everyone is anonymous.

provides standard feature. Which by the way, they don't have to.

"Low IQ guy, yes they must pay those benefits to get good workers. If they could get away from dong that they certainly will"

So...you agree that they have good benefits? What difference does it make why? Regarding my "low IQ", you and you alone are responsible for where you are right now. I'm in a good place. You sound miserable.

"the original poster is an ass su****. Do you agree?"

See anything in the post that's not true? No, you don't. I don't need to resort to juvenile name calling. You know what you are. Or maybe not. But your friends, family, and co-workers do. :)

Funny post that says "otherwise you are simply another Walmart". Maybe Hal would be as profitable as Walmart if they didn't give these perks.

The post that says these are standard features for corporations...then why are you crying if Hal provides standard feature. Which by the way, they don't have to.

The post that says it's the law, here's a direct quote from the Department of Labor.

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) does not require payment for time not worked, such as vacations or holidays (federal or otherwise). These benefits are generally a matter of agreement between an employer and an employee (or the employee's representative).

To the post comparing Hal to European companies...we aren't Europe. Like it better there? Stay there or go there. We don't give a shit how you do it where you came from.

Typical American attitude. Compared to most European major companies the compensation scheme at HAL is rubbish.

My partner gets final salary pension, free gym membership for family, 1 years maternity at full pay, free child care, flexible working hours and every Wednesday and Friday works from home. It's not even considered unusual amongst her friends.

Check out what Statoil give their European employees if you want a good laugh/cry.

Completely agree with previous post; otherwise, like purchasing a car w/o seatbelts, headlights, or mirrors. You listed all standard features for corporations. There are, however, other O&G companies with with beyond-standard features. HAL is not one of these.

Actually HAL does need to do all those things to stay competitive. Otherwise you are simply another WalMart.
