Point well taken. Even if he was let go he has a better deal than any of us field folks do. I have been pissed off about all this layoff stuff for close to two years now and I'm tired of worrying about it. I encourage anyone reading this to have an exit plan in place.
Wise man once said "I was looking for a job when I found this one".
Hey 5trx ,
I will tell you one pressure our CEO does not have; going in to work everyday not knowing if/when the company is going to sweep him away like trash. I would switch pressure and salary with D, in a heart beat.
To the idiot below; close friends were let go by people who are accepting salary increase. Now tell me again how they have "our best interest in mind". One thing we have over our competition is debt. Before you go blowing smoke about oil's dead cat bounce in price, you better look at how high the price needs to rise to just breaking even.
Lay off the kool aid
To 4sqq. All your statements may be true in certain areas, but I have worked here for 8 years managed millions of dollars of assets and used to have your same nieve outlook. My team and I have stayed safe for the duration of my tenure here. We managed our business the way CHK is trying to get to now. But due to asset sales that are coming I will most likely be shuffled off to a company that will most likely let me go, because of my association with CHK. No severance! Nothing! But you know what, I'm ok with it. Because I get the chance to start over. my manager and I saw this coming over a year ago and started preparing for what lied ahead. It doesn't matter to me what Our CEO makes, he has a tremendous amount of pressure on him. You couldn't pay me enough money to do his job. So please think about this while you do Yoga on campus and my team and I work to keep the lights. And we squeeze to get every dollar we can to meet our targets. You can thank us in the 4th quarter when you are employees and we are not. Oh and by the way stop ruining the companies safety record, falling down stairs, cutting yourself with what ever you cut yourself with. You are an embarrassment to the field guys that work with stuff that will blow up and kill you.
What a bunch of BS just posted below
Everyone needs to quite being so short sighted. Just because oil prices are down does not mean they will stay there. The current price shows that a bottom has been reached. The only direction prices can go is up. Everyone who remains loyal, while our industry has slopped downward are being noticed. Your commitment shall be rewarded. By 4th Qtr we will all be able to look back on this and realize our fear was for nothing. Do not get angry with leadership, they have everyone's best interest in mind. You all should look for those small things that can be done to make CHK even stronger. The stronger we are the further we will put ourself ahead of our competition. Everyday I look for that one extra thing I can do. If everyone did that we would shine so bright, it would not be possible to have grey sky days. Everyday you need to ask yourself if you are part of the problem or solution.
Doug has lost money by showing up at chk .... Thanks to the debt AKM left behind - every employee including Doug is loosing money by working for chk.
No raise that is awesome bahahahahahaha!!
Doug does deserve it he is a good guy!
Doug is not important to Chesapeake's success. He's important to managing to and while in bankruptcy. A trained monkey could run the company better than him right now
So by the same logic, is he "vastly" more responsible for the company tanking?
Wait... thats market forces, right? No one could have foreseen a fall in prices... and certainly, once realized, no one could react accordingly.....
can't have it both ways muchacho
Doug is vastly more important to Chesapeake's success than you are. Stop whining.
