strong back - weak minds. Severance isn't worth starving out and burning creditors alongside Halliburton. Anyone who didn't save and worked in the oilfield wasn't worth hiring but bang unions. I saved 25k a year in 401k - mortgaged 150k and paid cash on three vehicles. Unemployed and fixed expenses monthly are $2,200 a month supporting wife and two kids. Boats, side by sides, diesel trucks just show your ignorance along with hanging on to a sinking ship. A whole lot easier to get a job when you have ones- OILFIELD IS DONE - bled out!!!!

As an outsider who has worked in the financial world, listen to what I have to say...

Y'all should be attacking HAL management, not other workers who also get paid sh--.

Those a--holes with white collars sitting in their air conditioned offices are the problem here - they chose NOT to save during the good times so that the company could weather the bad times...instead, they spent it all on sh--ty share buy backs and fat dividends (and yes, they may have paid that 20-something a few thousand more than they should have, but it pales in comparison to the BILLIONS they gave away to "investors" (and themselves).

After all, the bulk of their compensation is based STUPIDLY on how well the share price performs...shortsighted dicks f---ed the company to boost the share price so they could get paid big bonuses...

Ha - but they also f---ed themselves as those inflated shares they received with their bonus have now collapsed...but it collapsed b/c HAL's balance sheet was sh-- going into a NORMAL cyclical downturn in the oil price...The investors who got out before the crash made off like bandits, (they were lucky) while everyone else is now getting screwed. That's not investing, it's gambling.

But you know what really drives me nuts - Those a--holes in HAL management who were essentially tricked by dic---ad I-bankers into agreeing to an ABSURDLY HIGH break-up fee associated with this BHI deal - $3.5 BILLION -- That's 10% of the deal value!!!!

Now that this deal isn't going to happen, HAL will need to BORROW BILLIONS to payoff BHI for NOTHING...absolutely nothing. HAL management should have NEVER agreed to such a high breakup fee given the risks associated with this deal...it's absolute lunacy. Y'all should be defenestrating those cocks but instead y'all beating each other up over some table scraps. It's a real shame. Wake up.

Pocasset got told today that they only want everyone to have 30 hours so they are bringing alot of new drivers in so that people can only haul one load a day and then they send you home. They think this is saving big money instead of laying off people. They still have to pay benefits and taxes on these people

I think it's ridiculous that people are crying over only making $50,000.00 a year. I support my family off of $30,000.00 a year. You need to learn how to manage your money and quit bitchen like a child about it.

Over paid field hands? Maybe in some camps, but damn sure not Caldwell. They started all of us off at $13.00 and of course no PPR raises until you reached SO1. The only way you reached that is if you had a decent supervisor or if you got assigned a decent rater. Crews mostly took care of their own and that was it. While there was some decent supervisors, there wasn't many. I'm almost 100% positive that field hands started out making more in other camps. I'm not sure if the problem was that bald headed peckerwood or Eddie. For the amount of hours and time spent away from your family, $13 isn't crap.

The two worst sh-- holes I ever worked at were: #1, and the all time worst, Laredo, Mexico, er, Texas, which I quit the company to get out of that cesspool, and #2, Houma, Louisiana.

Overseas, there were quite a few, starting with working in the Sindh, in Eastern Pakistan, followed by some of the land rigs in Egypt, followed by offshore Republic of Congo, working for ENI, the Italian oil company, and a couple of Chinese jackups in the Bohai Bay, offshore Tainjin, PRC. BUT, at least you knew that in X more days, your back to back would be arriving and you could get back to civilization.

WE did it WITHOUT having our hands held, WITHOUT having crybaby 'helpers', BECAUSE WE knew our job, and WE KNEW how to work around problems without 'processes' or 'management of change', or running sobbing to management about how we were 'mistreated'.

However, I do imagine that MOST of those whining about how "tough' they had it, were nothing more than pump operators, who reached their limit when, if they ever, learned which way to hammer a union. Frac weenies HAVE ALWAYS been the lowest of the low, muscle without intelligence, good for nothing but yapping away on the radio during a job.

I was here when we were guaranteed 60 hrs, then it was 54 hrs, then 40 hrs, now 0 hrs. While I can sort of understand the vitriol of the employees ( not hands) what many fail to realize that many of us old hands have given our lives to Halliburton, missed Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, graduations. We are the ones that helped build this company and have watched Dave & co. turn it into something we can't even begin to recognize today. We sat on offshore platforms for 50+ days through the holidays, Spent months overseas in various sh--holes around the world and did the damn near impossible for ungrateful asshats. So yes this loss of our guarantee is a bitter pill for us to swallow. Some of us have worked 30+ years without marking days off on a time sheet, we were never off other than vacation. While many of the ones making sarcastic remarks on here sat at home at night or were on their days off, some of us were out there doing the things that made Halliburton the most respected name in the oilfield. So once again, yes, some of us are extremely bitter. If you think this is a good thing or happen to believe that field hands have been overpaid, then just keep on following your processes, keep you short visioned head in the sand and you may not even see it when they come for your livelihood.

Right now after sitting on the bench for over a year l would be happy with a job that would pay 50K a year. These spoiled idiots whine and cry because their glamorous lifestyle is going the way of the dinosaur and they didn't have the intelligence to put any money away for just this. I would love to see all the tears as the toys are hauled away to the auction.

Had one of the field guys stop in the shop and was shooting the sh-- and he said how am I going to make it on 50,000 a year. 50,000 a year!!! I wanted to punch that bearded skinny jean pussy right in his face. Yea he got the big 75,000 dollar truck plus the bass boat oh don't forget the big fancy house. What a dildo. Hey d-bag many of us do it every day. Oh he wanted to know how he could get his child support reduced. We all know what can happen in oil and gas. This 20 something puss and all of them good luck in the new oil and gas. Its never going back to what it was. Bitches

This 40hrs cut was across the board not just select areas, and as of mid level management most of us took about a 30% paycut from salary to hourly. Still more than most field hands make but then we were cut back to 40hrs just like most field hands. We are all in the same boat.

You all need to start listening to Dave Ramsey. No matter how many time your engineer or that old operator told you to never "live" on overtime or bonus., you never listened. Always had to upgrade that truck every couple years (always on credit). You bought boats, jet skis, motorcycles, guns and never from savings or cash, but on credit. You upgraded the house well beyond what you needed, again all on credit. You took trips to Vegas, cancan and cruises.

People that don't require the upside to live daily will make it through the slow times. All you idiots that spent like their was no tomorrow can file bankruptcy and start over. Hopefully you learned a lesson.

Just think, some 'manager' received a huge bonus for coming up with this way of reducing costs.

I remember the glory days when we were guaranteed 70 hours a week, and then when WE were on VPO, which gave us a living wage, PLUS our day rates.

DESPITE what management is telling you, YOU can bet that NONE of them have taken a pay cut, or had their bonus/compensation packages modified.

Isn't Dave 'wunderbar'?

I agree, If you hate HAL so much volunteer to be layed off. There is good people being walked out the door, Camps being shut down and obviously they put some blind faith into you and are trying to keep you safe.
