Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Our raises were just given to Jonathan Adler so he can design himself a fabulous golden parachute!

As creative director will Adler have to submit to performance reviews? Our new form of TRACS? No faith in the locals in EA, bring in the high fashion help because the hicks can't get the job done.

Richard will be telling everyone about this at the next weekend party in Palms Springs. When he invites Jon to attend one of those parties everyone will be so jealous and Richard will be belle of the ball.

except he would have been shoving barbies up his assand taking self portraits, which isn't too far off from our current leadership (metaphorically speaking).

Too bad Mapplethorpe died. If he was still around RD would surely hire him to head up Barbie or HW or Polly Pocket. He would make another great addition to the Velvet Mafia.

This is the same logic that went in to these "designer" partnerships with Barbie all spend and no return. In the end it's the bread and butter of the company that will suffer.

When are we going to come to grips with these things?

WE ARE NOT FASHION BRANDS

WE ARE NOT AN ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY

WE ARE AN ELECTRONICS OR VR COMPANY

WE ARE NOT AN APP COMPANY

we make toys and we can make good toys if you staff us properly manage your sales guys stand up to your buyers and support your people.

Again we all heard about the new vision and priorities an age ago but still no follow up. This is place has the worst culture of communication to its own people. Any changes we hear on the news before our own management. Pathetic

Oh Lord. A pretentious, gay, NY Jew with no known talent for designing infant or pre-school toys.

He ticks all the boxes to lead FP according to the current upper mismanagement, doesn't he?

Mr. Adler says: People will make judgments before you even speak based on the way you look. Most definitely your physical appearance matters. The way you dress, your hygiene - it all matters.

So you bumpkins in EA better start hitting the treadmill and shopping in Manhattan. or you'll be shown the door.

Dear Abby,

I'm nervous about this choice of Adler

In reading his remarks in regards to the direction about his vision for FP

Designing for melenials and toys should be part of the home decore and use muted colors etcetera

I hope he will do some research in regards to what babies n children need during childhood development... Cause he seems to be un aware of these concepts

I don't even design for this age group and I know at least a few rudimentary things about color and toy function for children!

Yours truly,

I'm confused and concerned

I'm sorry but I'm confused. Is FP going to become a fancy overpriced esoteric toy company aimed at self styled fashionistas and over priced interior decorators? Is this a late April fools joke? No really. Really.

This is out-of-touch upper management grasping at whatever they can to try and keep the stock price up to appease the investors. No faith in their designers so instead they hire a designer who like the EA designers has been churning out the same crap for the past 10 years. NO VISION for success. This reeks of a move the tired old silver fox would come up with.

Let's be honest. The Adler announcement is a PR move to give some design credibility to FP with the hoi poloi. It does nothing for mothers who have never heard of him let alone afford anything he sells. Nothing says high snobriety and an out of touch strategy than this. Nothing against Adler because he has his fans in Palm Springs and Beverly Hills But one again it's another move that leaves a lot of us here scratching our proverbial heads going "the f@ck?!?"

Tough crowd on this topic so I guess I'll have to Google up this Adler cat but sure sounds like he's not a fit for the preschool look/tone & manner. High fashion is not preschool as I done both and it wasn't easy, total opposites but if you can draw, you just have to put on different hats.

Tough crowd on RD as well but everybody says the same thing which does make me think tho, hmmmm...... I'll have to look up Jones NY as well.

Oh please, I'm sure the collective members of the velvet mafias are infighting over who's going to dirty their knees first to taste some of alder's brilliance.

Oh god how ridiculous can they get? Because nobody knows babies and millennial parents more than a gay middle-aged man. Notice his terms/money deal were not disclosed. That's because they know people would have a fit. And this post is right...it is a vote of no confidence for our designers as well as the fact that all his stuff looks the same. His style hasn't changed in 10 years or more. It's the same white and orange, geometric overpriced BS he's been doing forever. He probably needed a cash infusion... Otherwise why would he take the gig? Remember when he did the overpriced real malibu dreamhouse for

Barbie's 50th? The ultimate party house for all the execs and their

B list celebrities. He got millions for that. That was Richard dixon's vanity project that spent millions but did not sell any Barbies. It did catapult him into the presidency of a major fashion label. Until he literally ran that company into the ground. Jones New York... Look it up. Plus I think he is a closeted gay man and loves to run in these

Circles. And I have nothing against gays by the way...just ones that marry and pretend to be something they are not. How unfair that is to his family.

But none of that matters....what matters is if his designs are going to sell fisher price gear. First of all it is going to make it expensive. And I don't think millenials are into the name on things. They don't care about that and really don't want to pay for it. Another stupid decision no doubt made by Richard and his star struck self.

Yes, a pottery guy is going to be an expert in designing children's products.

What would you bet one of our executives has a house full of his stuff and pushed to employ him, just because. He'll fit in well at the weekend parties.

Oh, great, is he going to redesign all of the product to look like his white, glossy furniture with orange geometric print accents?

Yeah this is a total vote of no confidence from upper management in our design staff. Thanks for the lack of faith Mattel. you really know how to make a staff feel

worthless.
