Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

My store leadership could give ZERO effs they are too busy sumo wrestling

I work at a store in the chicago metro area. My hillbilly store leadership team thinks it's more important to have wild and crazy activities like a stupid sumo wrestling event instead of working on a strategic plan to drive sales and get us out of these negative comps. They claim team member morale but it's really just another example of how they are their getting a paycheck for no work and really have no business sense. Dummies enjoy while it lasts. Fools

I used to work at evn and am amazed I lasted as long as I did there. Evn sucks. They used to do a lot for employees but they did much less by the time I left. I wanted to help them but abandonned it because management didn't care. Let them lose carts, etc. I tried.

And the executives protest: "But...but we're changing the world! Please someone buy us out. No one else will hire us except to stock shelves at Dollar Tree."

Ha ha several years ago South regional execs realized that we weren't drinking the Kool Aid fast enough. They held this huge 2-day gathering of several hundred people over in downtown Atlanta (including accommodations) with skits, dress-ups, singalongs, dancing, cheers, a talent show, hand clapping and other time-wasting activity. The only thing that was accomplished was that people were deluded for day or two into thinking that regional "leadership" was actually appreciative instead of a bunch of conniving, unqualified, inept egomaniacs. And it blew a nice hole in the labor budget for that month. Nice to know we've come so far. Same dumbasses, same circus, same overpaid f*&^heads. Enjoy the PB&J sandwiches yall.

So true. The "answer" is always to just "spread the core values" and pump up the enthusiasm level. It's so childish. It's like the movie Office Space, where the co-worker says "Looks like someone's got a case of the MONDAYS." The real answer is to fire the imbeciles running this circus, bring in professional retail managers and executives who understand logistics and how to cultivate consistency, simplicity, employee and customer relationships, and then PROMOTE those who can organize and work a plan to actually compete with other businesses. OOPS, they fired all those people last year and continue to do so. Let's have an event to celebrate opening a wheel of cheese and a flash sale on 365 enchiladas. I'm so happy I can just sh--.

This is typical WFM and a prime example of why the company is going down the drain! I wouldn't expect the 365 Stores to do any better---after all, the same idiot leadership that is sinking Whole Foods is in charge of the new 365 Stores----the ones at the top don't care, they've already made their millions. Take care of yourself and start looking for a better company now.
