Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Paid off

Just been paid off good to see that halliburton don't really care about any 1 so be informed that if you are about to be paid off you will not receive any matching shares from the company just the money you have paid in less uk tax I thought that the caring company that they are would at least honour this not only to me but all halliburton staff instead the only emails you receive is from the ceo telling staff to keep focused and work safe. This is what people don't want to hear

The problem is not that they have laid off lots of people so the top dogs can stay fat. The problem is that the fat cats at the top are the most uneducated, ignorant and arrogant ever in the history of the company and they are in the process ( almost done ) of getting rid of ALL employees who are very knowledgeable in this business. Knowledgeable employees are what always carry you through the tough times but not this time at Halliburton. They are blasting forward with employees who know nothing and don't care. The next five years are going to be very interesting. Personally I doubt Halliburton will survive this epidemic of stupidity.

Unfortunately, this is business. Our "contract" with the company is that we will show up and work, and they will pay us and, depending where we are in the world, they'll help us out with healthcare and saving for retirement. That's it, they don't owe us anything beyond that. When times got tough in the mid '80s, countless companies let good people go, and times are tough again. Yes, the guys at the top will stay fat and the worker bees will suffer, but that is how business works in many countries. Having been cut in the '80's and again last month myself, I'm looking for work in other industries.

They portray themselves as a company who care about their employees, but at the end of the day, and the fact that they don't pay matching shares proves this is that all they care about is shareholders and dividends. Fair enough that companies need shareholder investment, but what if they did something totally leftfield, like stop reliance on shareholders investment and started reinvesting a larger portion of the massive profits they've been coining in during boom times and stop paying out large dividends to fat cat investors. Halliburton is bad capitalism personified. Throw money at problems in boom times, take an axe to your employees and infrastructure during lean times. Whatever happened to efficiency? Seems par for the course in oil & gas, short sightedness, no wonder it's so boom and bust. Good luck pal, take my advice, don't return to this industry unless uoure willing to work harder for less or emigrate to Australia of the middle/Far East, the good times are gone for the North Sea and UK oil & gas and they'll never return.
