Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

ABU post ESP. Will be carnage.

Layoffs of local and repatriated locals will begin June. Expect this will be large. No drilling in the next 2-3 years. Gorgon is in the sh-- and Wheatstone well on the way to a repeat. D&C, exploration and subsurface teams have huge headcount and next to no production. Hold onto your hats!

I am a person with CVX business development experience. CVX poor project performance causing other oil companies to avoid CVX, much like they avoided BP after the spill. MAjor oil companies are making a rational decision because partnering with CVX as operator is a risk. CVX preferred Partner strategy is in jeopardy. There is anecdotal evidence in recent announced industry deals that Statoil and Total prefer Shell and Exxon over CVX...CVX may be excluded from opportunity to participate in future growth opportunities or excluded from operatorship...not many future jobs or projects if we cannot operate...in existing JVs they will add additional contingency to our budgets and execution timelines and these may not get funding relative to their operated projects...more job losses coming

2016 budgets are getting cut. People getting nervous. Won't get any clear idea on numbers until after the fact, but the cuts will be deep.

1sup - you work for Shell - go away - go to the shell layoff board. Whose bothered about what happens with Train 4 when we cannot even get Train 1 running.

I work for Shell, no train 4 at Gorgon and plateau maintenance is highly unlikely to be funded. ExxonMobil not happy either...For better investment opportunities in Brazil. ExxonMobil wants to spend in South America vs Australia. Waiting for labor costs to drop....that's why the Shell and CVX joint announcement
