Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Is there really going to be another big round of layoffs?

I have read many threads on here that claim there will be more layoffs and that they will be extensive. Is it really true or is it just BS ?

there are a bunch just sitting around with nothing to do right now trying to suck off anyone that comes in their office...........I've witnessed quite a bit here in the past 3 weeks. Won't be long HR will be in their........ Just a routine situation of this industry except this one is going to be a deeper cut that will last 3-4 years and when prices come back it will take a months to even fire up drilling again. I will guess around 2020. The Middle East made news yesterday "to let the Mkts take care of Oil". Basically means their going to pump till the ground caves in.

If your a employee with nothing to do, that's been the setting for 3-4 weeks go ahead and prepare your time has been observed and documented. If your an employee with nothing to do, and another job opportunity lands in your lap, take it. If your an employee with nothing to do, 300k house morg, two cars, private schools for the kids - your just f&%ked and I'm sorry for what comes next.

None of this down turn is nobodys fault period. The only ones to blame is yourself for not preparing for the down turns in this industry. Booms and Busts has been going on regularly and almost routinely for 50 years. During booms one saves every penny, during the bust you can take your walking papers with a smile on your face and soon as you get home start working getting the fishing poles ready. Boy there is sure is a lot of jacked up 4x4 diesels for sale right now.....mmmmm

we just fired some managers today and the cuts will continue as long as the oil price and rig counts go down

No more cuts anymore. Oil is stable and on the path to recovery. Good times are coming.

The cuts will keep coming until drilling resumes on a large scale, which won't be until long after the price goes up, so brace yourselves for a at least a couple more years of uncertainty.

Supply chain will be taking over in this moment of crisis. See if you can get into supply chain. Top-level leadership has gone on record stating that supply chain will be protected and given free reign to streamline the organization over the next 12-18 months.

The only hope with the upcoming reorganization is to see some of the historical toxic VP's go. Their lack of leadership and political agenda have hurt the company and its people too much over their tenure. As for the the grossly incompetent newly appointed, SLB has hopefully recognized their casting errors and will take action.

I'm amazed to the ft worth tx offices, virtually few being let go & no revenue coming in. Wittnessed the other day of Mgr moving someone under another Mgr so to hide them from being laid off. I was blowed away, wow, just wow. Now somebody must sucking off someone, truly amazing.

The Mgrs playing into this ought to be laid off also. Defiantly shows you who your bosses are in this industry...

Negative, layoffs are not done. A bunch happened this past week and there are units that are currently combining now that have two mgrs., quad sales groups and etc. As these units combine they'll lay more off as what has happened to myself. 2016 is dead in the water, if there is any recovery it will be in 2017. SLB is quietly trimming down expecting no recovery for 2016. Even if oil gets up to $60 bucks or so, going to take quite a few months after that before any actions take place/Rigs coming back. This bust is on the record for the worst in 50 years. I wish everyone luck and if you still have a job, trust no one and keep you head on a swivel...

Most of those were completed and will be announced in next weeks earnings report for Q1. The company projected a turn around this summer and it doesn't seem to be happening along with the production freeze already failed before the meeting Sunday. Sure there will probably be more cuts to go along with the cameron integration.
