Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Thank you

First of all, thanks to the brave folks who posted the info about the reorg. Don't you just know managers are scouring IP addresses to find out who you are!

It occurs to me (and I could totally be off base here) that this reorganization sets up a system teach-out sometime in the future while creating more profits in the short run. Thank God, I was able to leave this venal company years ago (while Goldman Sachs was still devouring its reputation). If you're still employed by AI, do yourself a favor and get out as soon as you can. If you wait until they close, it will be harder to find employment and you will not be getting anything except an unemployment check--no severance, no health insurance, no nothing.

Best of luck to all of you.

Maybe if you're trying to stay in higher ed (can you blame them for not wanting you?). ARs should get hired very quickly. The job market is good

I agree with the most recent post. It is harder to find a job if you are still with Ai or if it's your most recent employer. After I left Ai, I applied to several colleges and didn't get a single interview so, I went to a career fair and applied for jobs in fields outside of education that matched my skill sets. I got hired within 2 weeks.

It's harder to find a job if you are still employed by Art Institute. It's not until you are finally free of them that you will be even considered. This has been my experience.

From the public's perspective, it's almost impossible to tell what's going on at EDMC. What we do know is that the CEO knows little or nothing about education and that he's a libertarian. Because the stock is delisted, the company doesn't have to publish any documents for the SEC. The Department of Education (College Navigator) doesn't report very much, other than retention rates, graduation rates, and cohort default rates--and those numbers are outdated.
