Chicken shit Coward Managers Allowing HR to Handle Lay Offs

This week I have seen in Houston more than one layoff where the persons direct manager was not even present or broke the news to them when they got let Go, I know for a fact said Managers were in Houston that day.

I guess they want a Manager or Director title, but none of the real responsibilities of the job. You are man enough to write names on a list but not even look your employee in the eye and walk out with them with some dignity. You are pathetic.

With that logic, you guys must be Sperry - at least one guy has he head on straight and got a reach around before he gave up his badge.

Oh, thank you Mr. Manager, your kindness helps me pay the rent... bitch please!

Everyone should read their waiver when they are laid off. They are sneaking non to compete clause in all waivers even if not in technical or management area of company. Protect your future employment opportunities you have the right to have a lawyer review this waiver. You so not have to sign in front of HR.

Maybe your manager was laying off someone else at the time. Someone who isn't a crybaby. Who cares who does it? That's like saying it makes a difference if you get run over and killed by a Ford or a Chevy. End result is the same.

Bert, I do feel better because I was just rehired by same manager. Lower pay, but hell, I got a job again and benefits for my family. He fought to keep us, his team, during the last 2 busts. Good leaders in HAL still exist. Working on getting another colleague rehired and back in the team.

My manager had the dignity to give me a reach around before taking my badge.

Thats sweet, do you feel better now ? The result is the same.... Why dont people realize that we're no longer living in the 60's where companies gave a damn. Take it and move on.

I'm a manager and I agree. Employees deserve better. A manager is supposed to be present. In the event I'm released, and it could happen, I expect my supervisor to be there. If not, I'll be more than upset.

My direct manager whose office is in Houston drove to San Antonio to meet me at the HR office. Though the news of being RIF'ed sucked, I appreciated that he showed up. Current condition is bad, but I've been lucky to have had the managers throughout my career in HAL that took care of their support team.
