I work with a Netapp competition, and don't think this is Netapp specific. But entire storage industry is in bad shape. This is the time for NetApp to fire the bad apples, and hire new blood. All the best.

Couldn't agree more.
The singular focus on " As goes ONTAP, as goes NTAP" has finally sent the Company into a downward spiral. I recall a deal where we could have sold 5 PB of E-series to a customer soon after the Engenio acquisition. We were not allowed to because Sales was not allowed to sell the product direct. This went on for over one year and no one knows how much revenue we lost because of these just plain stupid restrictions. We called it Sales Prevention.
Before I left in Oct 2014, a few co-workers and myself compiled a list of at least a dozen acquisitions made by NTAP since I joined them in 1999. NONE of these contributed in any significant way to the revenue and growth of the Company .
Problems on many fronts.
Bad apples ? Switch on your brain - they are firing the expensive and experiences people. This will fire back like shit in a couple of weeks. I am feeling with the ones remainig on the sinking ship...
Not entirely true, but Netapp is at the bottom of the heap, for sure, because of its inability to recognize a world beyond ONTAP.
