2,960 ESP posts have been posted ... and the server is crashing ... unable to search or look at job details

I guess no one anticipated that.

HP's LoadRunner! HAHAHHA ROTFLMAO! What a useless POS App! Do you work in Chevron's IT department? No wonder they are having problems!

No way to test this system????? Whoever posted this report immediately to your case management worker and get back on your meds.....As stated you can load test the application. Chevron is incompetent. Even the Alpha ROM was, taking place they did not reserve a big enough room to accommodate the employees and the fire Marshall shut er down. Soooooo if you can compare what a room holds to the number of employees....how do you expect this shit hole to load teat. BROKE.

Gi13SQn-1hhe, absolutely you can load test this type of application and it's incredibly easy. Any TA worth their salt could run something like HP's LoadRunner against it and find these basic problems rather quickly.

If you read the code dump it was crappie session management. First rookie mistake is not developing for mass consumption. Most of chevron IT contractors build apps for 100 users max. Not concurrent either. Also who names a class NominationToolRewrite? I feel like Dr. EVIL now... Really, who throws cupcakes?

I wonder if this development effort went through the same rigor that other systems have to go through? Feels a lot like a "hurry up and do something approach" and don't worry about best practices or putting a skilled team in it. What? Was the made up ROI not inflated enough to get at least the B team? This F team sure as hell didn't make the cut.

And when is it a good idea to stand up separate infrastructure to handle bad code? Oh, I guess today it seemed like one a good idea. Huh, oh and it still doesn't work?

And let's get the numbers straight, it's only in the 5,000 number of users. Not 40,000.

Same crew that built the original Obamacare site a few years ago was also contracted to built this one for us. The servers crashed then and it's crashing again.

Actually, there's no way to test this type of App on 40,000 people. As much of a failure as it was there's really no personal accountability for hardware failure. Perhaps they could have invested in better hardware/servers/interface/etc. and just cut some more dead wood to pay for it. I'm game for that! Who wants to volunteer for the chopping block?

12 hours later (8pm CT) and the site is STILL down. Albeit now they have a friendlier error message. If the team in charge of ESP can't even handle something as routine as making sure the application is properly load tested prior to deployment, how on earth can they handle facilitating a ROM with record numbers of people and positions during an event lasting only 3 days?

To show the accountability model Mary needs to resign tomorrow or be fired publicly. Mediocrity is no longer accepted. Problem is she won't be since she is related to royalty in chevron.

Very impressive, indeed! Good luck recruiting even your friends and family at this point!

This is embarrassing. I would feel ashamed if I were Mary in charge of this Mickey Mouse operation. What a cluster.

You have bottlenecks at a few server farms. That is the Chevron Way.

as of noon the system is still down, but now with a different error message ... apparently no one thought of doing some load testing before hand, and the October ROM must have not been enough of a test.

2 1/2 hours into the postings being live and the site is still crashing. Lovely. And just to be clear to the OP, the problem is with the number of people trying to access the system all at the same time, not with the number of postings in the system.
