Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Gulf of Mexico layoffs?

Anyone have any insight on the GOM? I haven't heard of much activity but then again March isn't over by a long shot.

Seriously, you are obviously an offshore cement hand since your grammar is from 2nd grade - but hey bro, there are always hiring at the bait shop , ah, but wait you have to be able to count minnows.

Reply to put up are shut up.

My guess you where a bully in school. Most likely big and had a fat gut. Thought it was funny to give a smaller kid a nookie.

From your post it shows you have very little insight in offshore cementing. You must have worked as a night dispatcher job.

Are possibly a yard hand around the camp.

blah, blah, blah, 100 sacks, 1000 psi, those are some big numbers - you must be trying to compensate for something.... just like driving a big truck...

Someone else who speaks the TRUTH, which is something that HALLIBURTON and its management cannot deal with, since to do so would reveal where the fault lies."

"It will be interesting to see all the cost correction on problem jobs when and if The Gulf of Mexico picks up. Halliburton thinks you can do a pre job call in and go over everything about the job with your cement cord.

But in the real world he,s not the one feeding you the cement to the steady flo bin. He,s not the one trying to mix 18.2#gal cement with 16 gal Halad per 100sks, worked ok in the lab blender. He,s not the one up around the clock testing BOP to 10000 psi. And its always the units fault if you have a leak on the stack.

Let me clue you in Mr. cement cord. The cementer who has been there and done it, and worked his way thru it means something. You can,t put ADC, call in. Office CYA. hal best pact. and make it work perfect.

The cementer on the rig, will be left out to dry. No backing. And always his fault. And most of them will be young hands. Because Halliburton did away with older hands.

Perhaps after all is said and done, we'll have cementers that speak English without a Mississippi twang...

right now, more than usual, we're all just numbers on a list somewhere, getting judged, rated, and measured.

" There are bad ways though." Which Halliburton will seek out and fully embrace.

Hey, it's the Halliburton way. Their PAST reputation is the ONLY thing that they have going for them.

" big red aint what it used to be...all about numbers now not people or the family"

The same thing happened in 1982 and in 1985/6 - with all oilfield companies not just HAL. "Taking care of families" doesn't matter if the Company folds, lots more families would be affected then. Survival comes first whatever the cost.

In fact this time around is a' bit' better, the industry learned (a little) about the folly of laying off all the junior hands which resulted in the 'Big Crew Change-Out' fiasco. Lost a whole generation of experience there.

There is no good way to RIF people, someone gets hurt no matter what. There are bad ways though.

Sit tight is right. More layoffs. But at this time. The Baker deal is a bad buy either way. Dave's vision has ruined Halliburton.

I wouldnt want to be a experienced field hand with over 30 years of service right now. who would have thought that would ever be a bad thing. big red aint what it used to be...all about numbers now not people or the family

Not to many old guys left in Houma,La. Cementers at least. Thinned out 10- 12 in the past year who had between 20-41 years. Remember.... Halliburton cares about you and your family. Work 35-40 years they will reward you..... lol.

We are a family company..... our experienced field hands come first...

I heard they may offer packages to the older field guys and probably make more cuts to the younger field guys so the middle might be safer but who knows. These are just rumors and nothing has happened yet.

I would think several groups in the GOM are "fat" on the management side of things. I read a thread on here that in Canada they were looking hard at groups that had a Region manager, PSL manager, and a SQ manager. There are several PSLs in the GOM with those 3 titles. Hmmmm

The payroll dept. may be getting impacted soon since they're rolling out an electronic timesheet for hourly employees. It makes the manual time entry sheets, and the personnel that enter them no longer necessary.
