Take a look around the place folks, you seeing much work coming in, or raw material in the yard ? Ask yourself about the overheads of the site and the diminishing order book. My opinion is this. We are nearing the point where the level of business coming through Arbroath will no longer be able to sustain those overheads, sure we can axe a few more heads, but that's only a temporary fix. Unless we see a marked increase in orders, then our American masters will pull the plug. In no way will they throw money at the site if it stops making money, and that time is fast approaching.

Non producer ratio has been like this for years, family and mates and toe nails was never a good situation, why didn't you all speak out when the going was good, to late now. Guess everyone wanted an easy pay check, it might not be so easy in coming months.
Too f*ing right. More office staff than shop floor workers and PGL's have the easiest jobs in the plant. Filling in paperwork, holiday forms, making sure BBP's are up to date, making sure HALU's are done on time, ticking boxes. Couldn't the PTL's be replaced with low paid administrators? I don't see why not, they offer no competency training and no technical help, so why can't they be replaced by more admin staff?
Need to start ripping into the excess of fat in the ofiices and mid management. Noticed PGLs hiding most of the day.
Yep. Another 20 next month
Think we can expect another announcement once the 22 are no longer with us. Think everyone expects 2 soon.
It seems to be a bit of a fiasco now Hr and management making the rules up as they go along. There has got to be some directive before it's too late.
Name them
Takes me all my time not to name names on this page. People need to know who the shiesters and falanderars are.
Yeah, different rules for different people. Surely that's an ethics call ?
More management bad decisions. No work in some areas your made redundant. No work in other areas you get moved. How does that work.TIme to get rid of the old pals syndrome. Or we will end up with a useless work force that can't do the job. These people are putting all our jobs at risk.
When they pay cleaners £40k+ in the oil industry you know it's bloated and needing change
The PGL's and mid management (All from Arbroath) have the wits nor the will to be anything remotely close to Singapore. They've had it too good too long, ticking boxes and shirking responsibility. Too long in the tooth to change
Arbroath could learn a thing or two about efficiency and ruthlessness from the Singapore manufacturing facility. There, if you are lazy, chop chop irrespective of the oil price.
Same old same old. HalU's up to date? Tick. 5s scored? Tick. BBP's up to date? Tick. All the management & PTL's are good for. Doing the same as we did 10 years ago, with the same old (Arbroath) faces
Arbroath, we've been kidding ourselves for years with nice new machine tools, statoil and ball valve cells and painted floors, so much for keizan, lean six sigma, 5s, and process improvement. These processes are valuable but our decision makers here past and present now seem inadequate and maybe should've done their research and maybe out of their depth. So much financial costs and man hours have been wasted in this plant.
open up a fish business
Look for another job. With the current management and supervision Arbroath is doomed
Too many HCT manufacturing plants, Arbroath not the most efficient, too many non producers. Big reduction or close??
Managers say they know nothing and HR is as good as useless. Every day we wait for some kind of news that never comes. 2 shifts makes most sense, but we all know a further headcount reduction would be required. Guess we just drag ourselves along until something happens, be assured it definitely will, and it won't be good.
