I dont recall any company ever doing a worse acquisition attempt than this one. Rather than cut employees pensions they should shut down this gaping hole of incompetence and wasting money

Dave has gotta catch Schlumberger but it ain't working too well for him.
Schlumberger are like a finely tuned machine and ain't nobody gonna catch them
Full of young dudes from the best universities in the world and they are the best of the best and kick the ass of anybody. Heck the CEO is only 40
" Then lay of the workers and keep the middle man and chart makers."
'Tis the way of the Dave. Gotta find a way to keep the golfing buddies and ass-kissers, so we will invent new positions and titles, while fking over the field hands.
As was said, some of these camp closings will eliminate the field hands only, while keeping the management, and bringing in other management to form a "necessary cadre" of management excellence, while keeping them out of the roving eye. Of course ALL their re-location expenses, as well as pretty much unlimited executive perks will be paid to the selected management personnel.
No thanks old hand keep the Lamborghini. Promotion? Already had 2 ;)
Biggest cluster f!!k you can imagine. Like a snake that starts to eat it's tail . Field personal. Camps, manufacturing.mid management. Until there is only Dave and Jeff. Mr. Halliburton would be ashamed that this company uses his good name.
Here College kid, here are the keys to my Lamborghini. Take it around this track as fast as you can. If you bring it back destroyed and take out a few experienced drivers (of 20 plus years) just make us a chart saying how good you did. We will give you a promotion so you can destroy 5 more cars and several more lives.
Its like we are working for the competition. Helping them run Halliburton in to the ground. They took a well oiled machine and restructured it so one department over charges an other department that has to over charge the customer. If the customer cant afford that during these hard times they just cancel the project. leading to loss business and more lays off for the worker. They took our groups and busted them up and added a bunch of middle men that we don't need. Then lay of the workers and keep the middle man and chart makers.
and you have a nice day, You just proved my point why the new young college idiots are ruining all businesses...... It will soon ruin schlumberger..... They are just so large that it will take a while for this to catch up to them, but you can bank on it, these idiots will put every big business in a financial turmoil if the companies that hire them don't have an executive management team that can identify these risks. You may have the last word because I will not have this conversation with an idiot
So where were the guys in the red team who are coordinating the Baker acquisition strategy educated? Do they even have an education?
The current fiasco would suggest they haven't a clue what they are doing unlike Schlumbergers young executives who are able to pull off and integrate these large acquisitions in record time and become the #1 company in the industry. Perhaps poaching a few of these highly educated successful guys into the red team would help.
Bullshit. You old hands are too set in your ways that's why Hal recruit college grads. I'm afraid it's you who knows sh-- about modern business, modern manufacturing & modern oil services
get cheesed all you want but that is the sad truth, what these kids are being taught in college (or a lack there of) is a direct reflection of what is happening within Halliburton. One example and then I am done conversing with you because you obviously appear to be one of these that I am referring to......
Halliburton has this management training program where they recruit these so- called educated kids out of college, they hire in at a PSL with NO working experience, they do NOT have any communication skills. They are put in positions where they have an open checkbook to make goofy decisions and spend funding foolishly. Just in the past 9 years, I have witnessed one of these basically close an entire PSL because of this attitude, his team of educated college grads that were from the management program spent over 100,000,000.00 unchallenged by the manufacturing VP at the time and now this PSL is on the verge of closing down because of this. All along the decision making was by these educated spoiled brat kids. Add into the mix the global oil issues and this PSL will probably be shut down by Christmas...... So, get cheesed all you want, I am proud to say, I have never been to Canada so I don't know how your college kids differ from ours, but here in Texas, they are spoiled brat idiots!!!!!!!!!
There is truth to today's youth lacking maturity in judgement. Being unable to see complexities and ramifications of decisions they view through a simple lense.
But I'd take it over witnessing a clubhouse of the uneducated running the show. Many others have commented here about the colossal downfall of Sperry Canada.
I doubt those millennials would pull field hands the customer wants in favor of managements friends. Only for an irate customer to yank the contract away from Halliburton completely in frustration.
Millennials may lack critical thought at their young age, but aren't overwhelmed with an attitude of pettiness. So I myself get a bit cheesed when others beak off at millennials, because the alternative is much worse.
maybe I should say that I do have a degree..... It is quite obvious that you misunderstood just what I have been saying. I have been with Halliburton for over 25 years. What I am saying is that the new breed of the so-called higher education that we have been over saturated with, these kids have no common sense and they simply appear to be educated idiots. Nothing like the college grads 15 - 25 years ago. They don't listen and do not have a clue how to think for themselves. As I said before, they seem to be a bunch of spoiled brat kids that appear to be entitled to something simply because they arrive on site with some sort of degree. But, you have your opinion and I have mine.......
Schlum is pretty strict on the University thing. They do make exceptions from time to time, and work around it as well.
At my Canadian PSL we've laid off almost all of our Univeristy grads in the field in favor of the "street guys". Made layoffs formulas that justify the educated just don't have the skills in the vitality curve.
It's been almost a five year transformation from Education to No Education running the operations.
Sorry, but if you believe "street guys" should be running the show, take a look at Sperry Canada. Sperry Canada has gone from highest grossing district outside of the Middle East, to right now being in the basement.
I understand you anger pal... Envious of others and don't believe it is just. But look what happens when uneducated people with anger towards the educated attain authority, as they did in Canada. It becomes a complete mess.
does schlumberger hire snotty nose brat kids directly out of college and let them have an open check book to run a business or re-invent the wheel and/or make goofy business decisions that cost outrageous amounts of dollars and do not do anything to increase production or efficiency???? Because Halliburton has been doing that for years and now they are reaping the negative affects on letting these snotty nose brat kids directly out of college and the goofy decisions that were allowed to get approved with no questions asked....... That is your Halliburton college educated idiots..... Excuse me college grads. If Schlumberger allows this same practice with these so-called educated idiots, they are soon to follow Halliburton's footsteps......
maybe thats the difference - uneducated street guys vs smart university educated management - I wonder which company has the best results? mmmm yes its schlumberger stupid
Schlum wants its workforce to have University education. We can cope without that policy just find thank you very much.
they should be taking lessons from schlumberger management team on how to run and grow a company successfully
halliburton will be around for many years to come, to what extent so far, we will not know until the existing management team is GONE! The only major properties that we will have is NorthBelt, Carrolton, Singhapore and Dubai..... Having all of the smaller PSL's at all of the property locations that we once had, those days are soon coming to an end. We will have smaller sites in areas of operations but nothing to the extent that we once were use to. Halliburton will be forced to get small and operate with common sense and efficiency, the problem will self correct especially if management are held accountable for their bad decision making. They have no choice but to get rid of all this mid management and executive management teams that are running this company into the ground with all of the current out of control spending and goofy programs that are sucking the company dry of all money and assets. Very similar as to what has happened to our governments out of control spending and beurocuracy.
Lesar and Craighead are gong to make out like bandits when this deal is closed. Us poor working stiffs like always are the one that suffer. Both companies are ruined beyond repair, both have ass clowns in as plant managers across the USA.
Well said
Halliburton as a reputable company has been in serious decline since Dick/Dave have been at the helm.
Now looks like Dave will do and sale any and everything to make the deal go through. Why? It's to late iBaker/Halliburton are two company's ruined by Dave's greed for power and money.
I put in 40 years with Halliburton. Mr. Halliburton if alive to day, would be ashamed this company y was using his good name.
