That's an incredible story, @dcw. I do believe you, as I've seen examples like this many times over my 26 year career at Chevron. I suppose the manager over that D&C team was also a real slouch. Do you wonder why we need to clean house big time? But instead of using a broom, we need a bulldozer.

The "Phantom". I was one of the ETC team members flown in to attend this D&C Brazil team for a meeting. I learned that for the last 8 years the Phantom team had not drilled or completed a single well or will drill another well in the coming 3 years. The manager had been there for the last 8 years looking busy (meetings, meetings, meetings) to justify his position.
I call the manager Paul Bunyan, chopping one piece of deadwood at a time.
